Why the hell is Vick facing Trinaldo?

Trinaldo is good for sure but not a name at all. Vick has shown a lot of upside IMO. I know rankings aren't much but Trinaldo and Vick are ranked the same and I thought the win over Duffy would result in a top 10 fight. He's only lost once to Dariush in 2016. He's finishing fights and doing it impressively but he keeps getting people not even ranked. What's the deal here?
 
James Vick isn’t marketable according to WME.
 
Nobody in the top 10 wants to fight Vick, and I don't blame them TBH.
 
Maybe no one wants to fight him
 
Same deal as Usman. Top ten guys refuse to fight him.

Nobody wanted to fight Vick.. Dustin and Chiesa were offered the fight vs Vick in Texas. Both said no, Trinaldo was offered the fight and he said yes. Vick originally wanted Cerrone, but Cerrone signed vs Yancey.
 
The only high profile fighter that Vick has faced was Beneil Dariush, and we know how that ended.
 
Well, if you just look at the numbers, it's the *#14th ranked Vick vs the #14th ranked Trinaldo. Makes sense if you just look at it that way, and that Vick is 8-1 in the UFC to Trinaldo's 12-4.

* Didn't realize they were both ranked 14. That's even better.

It isn't as bad a matchup as people think. Trinaldo is 8-1 in his last nine. Just beat Jim Miller. Has a win over Felder as well who is better than anyone Vick has fought. It'll be a good fight.

I really wanted to see Vick fight Chiesa, I think he could take his rank. Where did you hear that Chiesa turned the fight down?
 
Vick had a gift decision against Hein and is lucky that Duffy is pretty stupid and had a terrible gameplan.
His wins are by weight cutting, not by skill
 
its not a sexy fight, would have preferred David Teymur, hell even Drakkar Klose despite the loss

Vick said it on one of the mma podcasts the past week or so.. believe it was mma hour. He said he's grateful that Trinaldo may (was a day or two prior to the fight being announced) sign the contract when others in the top ten wouldnt. He mentions Chiesa and Dustin, along with others I believe.
 
Chiesa was like "We already fought on TUF and we know how that ended."

Lol that was years ago.
 
Because Trinaldo is 8-1 with his only loss coming to Lee in a fight he was doing good in against a guy who just fought for a belt. Does that answer your question?

Also Trinaldo is going to fold Vick like a cheap lawnchair.

Right? Like I said I think Vick has big upside. Trinaldo for sure has a chance and is probably his toughest test but if he wins many will look at him the same. Give him a top guy that is well known already. He's smashed all the middle of the road fighters.
