Why OSP?

I'm just curious of why it was him?

Dude isn't even training for a fight, and Evans and Glover were both training to fight each other. Surely they're more viable options?

I then hear Rumble was taken out of the running by a dental issue or appointment, but I also heard his whole management team said he was up for it? Bizarre!

Surely there was some HW options? Werdum, Miocic, Rothwell, dos Santos, Velas Overeem and Arlovski all booked. Hunt or Barnett I guess could have been intriguing options. Jones at HW would surely sell OK.

I like the fact it's not Jones vs someone he's already faced, Evans, Glover, Gustafsson, Bader - but OSP just comes out of left-field.

Is anyone cool with this match-up? or any other possible fights they could have done that I missed?

Let's be real, Jones wasn't accepting a HW fight. And no one wants to see Rashad or Glover rematches. Only Rumble makes real sense and he just had oral surgery. I'm surprised Gus's name was brought up more.

When all is considered OSP makes the most sense in the end.

Jones will start fighting HWs eventually. There's no doubt in my mind about that.

This was probably the time for him to face his Bonnar/Griffin/Irvin.

That's meaningless if he doesn't use if effectively in fights which he obviously doesnt.

Complaining about OSP is ridiculous. Sure, he's not the top contender as such - but he's actually the top contender that Jones hasn't already beat.

Had it not been OSP, the complaints would have been as many. And this is a late replacement. Blame DC or blame yourselves for being laughable.

A fight against Hunt would have been awesome, and Hunt offered it publicly, however it's a very dangerous fight for Jones atm. Too dangerous.

There may have also been a McGregor situation here. Everyone wants to fight the man until they actually need someone to fight the man.

If OSP is out of left field then so is everyone. He's the best available LHW option. And that's the standard choice. He's a better choice than Rashad, regardless of training camps. OSP is the better fighter now, and is a fresh fight. Plus, they'd have to take a fight from Fox with Rashad.

Hunt is the HW who put his name in the hat. Obviously Hunt has a big fanbase, and people would like to see Jones do a HW fight, but competitively, Hunt is no better a matchup than OSP. And there can be no title on the line in a HW fight. I'd have been happy with Hunt instead of OSP, but I'm not really bothered either way.
