Why isn't Therapy Free

I suspect that what we lose upfront to pay for universal mental health resources we will get back tenfold in increases in employee productivity, happiness, and overall social well being.

So we can break this healthcare issue up and do free therapy for all.

I'd be up there on the couch every morning on the dot, coffee in hand.

Everything should be free. I ain't doing shit from now on.

If it's anything like this, count me in!

It isn't free because no body cares.

Oh you can't cope with the sexual abuse you suffered as a kid, fuck you, go take drugs and be homeless.

You went to war and fought for your country and killed other humans. Fuck off take drugs go be homeless.

You better keep you homeless drug addicted ass off our streets though. You should get a job, and stop taking drugs, you worthless piece of shit.

Mental health is heavily stigmatized with lots of bad ideas out there and there is a lot that is still poorly understood. I do agree in principle though that it would be a good thing if mental healthcare was part of the system.

Most of our grandparents/great-grandparents had to go through way worse experiences than most of our generation. They didn't need shrinks or to abuse drugs. Our drug problems are not indicative of more psychological stress.

Nothings free you Marxist cuck!!!

Most peoples grandparents would be considered borderline retarded by todays metrics.

The generations before us didn't have drugs and mental problems? You are aware that there was a time when you could go to the drug store and get hard drugs right?

You are aware we shut down a lot of the sanitariums, that the generations before us had.

Compared to the amount of people that abuse drugs these days, whether that be illegal drugs like heroin, or legal prescription drugs? Is it even comparable?

And therapy was unheard of back then.

See, this is the type of bad thinking that keeps us from making progress.

"Just rub some dirt on it you pussy" seems to be a lot of people's position on it. To me, things like depression should be viewed in a similar light as say diabetes. Obviously very different, but viewed in the sense that something is wrong that needs to be treated.

What does that have to do with anything? Do 'borderline retards' abuse drugs less or more?

There are at least two loony bins within 20 miles of me that have been abandoned.

I thought therapy was covered by health insurance. I know every policy I've had in the last 20 years has covered mental health.

Why aren’t massages free? Why isn’t personal training free?

How about you pay for services which other people provide rather than leeching off others? Either that or man up and get over your “anxiety” or whatever you think you have.

What are you wanting to get at? Mental health is a young part of human history. Humans used to think mentally ill people were demon possessed or witches. Humans used to kill mentally ill people or leave them on the streets. We didn't try to treat them. We still as a whole don't give a fuck about the mentally ill.

Im saying why are you holding up the actions of borderline retards as a model for everyone to follow? Maybe they were too dumb to get help back then.

Both antidepressants and diabetes medication are covered by Medicaid, and various other countries' health-care plans. There's your government help for your 'problems'.

I'd rather diabetes be solved by people eating less, and depression solved by people not being so emotional about it. I had plenty of opportunities in my life to be depressed, but never was. It wasn't because I saw a shrink or took anti-depressants, it's because I was smart enough to realize what an idiotic thing depression is and didn't let it get to me. Everyone's life is sad in some way, do we really need every person to see a shrink and take anti-depressants to fix that?
