Just watched the Miller/Duhaupas fight, and not once did any of the commentators mention Povetkin. Isn't he technically the mandatory for Joshua?

I know he is 38 years old, but he has only ever lost once against a prime Klitschko. People seem to forget that Povetkin exists.

I think he definitely top 5 in the division, and should be ranked ahead of Big Baby and Parker.

Primarily being a PED cheat is why. Being Russian doesn't help matters with currents events in America, either. The latter isn't his fault.

Because he's Russian and has previously tested positive.

Being a cheat has fuck all to do with it, they just want to talk about marketable options for the demographic they are talking to, which at the moment gives them other Americans or Joshua to talk about, everyone else is basically ignored.

If the guy ever gets what he does deserve, he won't enjoy it.

Povetkin no showed a title fight with Klitshko early in his career which didn’t endear him to fans. Then he fought a stinker against Klitshko when they finally met. He seemed to go on a tear a few years ago, KOing everyone he faced in dramatic fashion and then he popped twice, ruining potentially exciting fights and also ruining the perception that he somehow managed to improve as a fighter in his mid 30s.

People do know about him and they know that he’s been near the top of the division for the last decade. But, given the things mentioned above, why jump on his bandwagon just to be disappointed?

He's twice had big fights cancelled for PEDs. Fans will forget once, MAYBE, but multiple times getting caught cheating? thats a tough one to come back from, especially at 38.

the Duhaupas fight happened because Stiverne dropped out when Povetkin tested dirty. Then he KO'd Duhaupus in 6. Big KO streak for Povetkin, coinciding with his PED use.

He got his dues while he was Povetkin. Now he's PEDvetkin and it's a little different
