The Diaz matchup makes zero sense if GSP is dropping to 155. Khabib is the real fight to make for the title potentially making GSP the first ever three weight class champ in MMA. This is #1 bullfuckingshit

Not trilled it is Nate... but Mcgregor and Khabib should have a date this fall.... Poor Diaz... will get starched worse than his brother...

Cause the UFC needs confidence he can make 155 ?

Perhaps GSP wants to see how his body reacts to cutting to a smaller weight before challenging for the title, especially from going to MW to LW.

diaz is a bigger draw
He is, but I think his drawing power is overrated. I don't know, but I don't think this fight is even going to draw. It might draw, but I kind of doubt it draws as much as Dana Bald thinks so. I don't think it'll be worth the cash they have to shell out to get Nate Diaz to fight.

It feels like a waste of a GSP fight, at this point. Khabib could draw, he is the champion, and championships draw too.

You're right, this is the one interesting thing about the fight: how will GSP look at 155 pounds.

It's a new challenge.

GSP isn't cutting to 155. I don't care what the tabloids say.

BIG implications in this fight, atleast to the casual perception. Definitely pulling for Nate but he's gonna have to catch GSP clean with something and TKO or SUB him quick.

And you need to be 100% ready for a guy like Khabib which GSP doesn’t know for sure if he will be.

However Nate has 0 threat for a TD which is what Khabib will do.

Either way GSP is planning on taking Nate’s red panty night ticket away

Why is everyone going on their high horses?

Nothing has been confirmed yet. All we know is that Dana is trying to make the fight happen. GSP hasn't said shit. We don't even know if he will accept the fight.

But If GSP does accept this fight, there will certainly be some sort of a plan behind it. And that plan will certainly include fighting for the LW belt right after.

I bet GSP isn't fighting Khabib because Dana won't let him. He's afraid he'll take the belt and retire with it again. A legitimate concern for the UFC. I bet GSP doesn't come near a belt again.

This. It's been over two years since Diaz fought at lightweight, and he missed the cut the fight before that last one. There is zero reason for it to happen at 155.

You think Dana is just going to give GSP another title shot in a different category after dropping the MW belt?

I can almost guarantee that the deal Dana wants to offer GSP is to fight Diaz (A fight he would most likely win), and let him fight for the LW belt if he wins.

Diaz is a good draw, gives GSP the opportunity to test himself at 155 before going for the title. It's win-win.

Good point, it's bad for the promotion when a guy just retires a belt, rather than defend it and let the lineage continue.

We all know why, that's why, we just don't talk about it to refrain from baiting GSP nutjobs.

Let's be honest.

GSP doesn’t want Khabib.
Oh please. Lmao

If GSP accepts the Diaz fight, it's only to fight for the title next.
