Why is Rashad Evans in the HOF?

nah i think youre just simping for him because you agree with his opinion. pretty obvious.

Rashad accomplished more than you, me, or him. he deserves his hespec as a former champ. whether or not you agree with him in the HOF is up to you, but he's in there and he's probably not getting taken out of it. fighter bashing is against the rules of the forum, remember?
<{Heymansnicker}>

Just watching TUF (unfortunately) and Rashad visits and they announce him as a Hall of Famer, which I had forgotten, and don't really understand why; he was never a super dominant champion & he didn't really leave a massive impact on the sport that I can remember.
Am I missing something and way off the mark here?
if Rashad is in the HoF then Machida should be in the HoF for blessing us all with the SHADFACE
<shadface>

i think there are less than 60 in the hof, a few who arent champs

and im gonna guess there have been close to 140 people who have ever been champ

so not really.
Like I said, the bar is low.

Atleast he won the title.

UFC Hall of Fame is pretty much just a popularity contest.

Rashad is pretty underrated here. Sure he famously lost to Jones and Machida, but his run was pretty incredible. Also did better against prime Jones than everyone else. He was way undersized for LHW and started UFC fighting HW. His style has aged pretty well over time.

A lot of people give rampage credit for wrecking Chuck's chin, but he still had some solid performances after that fight.

It was Rashad knocking Chuck into the shadow realm that really ruined his chin. Because he never took a punch well after that.

I like Rashad Evans and acknowledge he had a great career.

I do agree though he doesn't feel like a Hall of Famer to me.

I think maybe part of the reason is that the sport is still young and moving quick, so we are no longer impressed with what Rashad brought.. but at the time he was the new blood and part of the new breed.

like you said
"Pretty much if you won a belt at some point your a shoo-in"
which is no where near being true.
Exactly. Plus Rashad wasn't just some random belt winner. He had 10 straight years in which every single fight of his was either the main event or co main event.

That's not some random belt winner that everyone forgets about, he was a legit star during the most significant rise of the sport. On top of that he won TUF and coaches on a season that ended with him doing a million buy PPV against the opposing coach.

You don't have to be some long dominate champ to be a hall of famer. There's other factors and ways of significance that can get you in.

I'm not saying the hall is amazing or perfect but for Evans I have zero issues with him being in (and this is coming from someone who has watched every numbered event in the entire history of the sport). I'd wager majority of the people complaining about it have either shitty memories or didn't watch his whole career.

Aside from obviously Frank Shamrock, he put his feelings and emotions to one side and inducted Ortiz, Ken Shamrock and Pat Miletich into the HOF. 3 people he can't stand. Randy Couture, too.
There's also Tim Sylvia much more HOF then shadface and some other Dana privileged. Did they finally allow Rich Franklin in? I know he wasn't considered for a long time because he worked with ONE FC.

The NFL founded its hall of fame in 1963. It was founded in 1920.
The NBA founded its hall of fame in 1959. It was founded in 1946.
The NHL founded its hall of fame in 1943. It was founded in 1917.

The UFC founded its hall of fame in 2003. It was founded in... 1993.

Yeah, you got a point there.
PowerSlap HoF 2026. Sport founded 2024. Fastest tracking sport in the world baby! <{danayeah}>

When was he inducted? The criteria are nebulous to begin with, but even still they might have evolved over time.

Rashad might have seemed a bigger deal when the roster was smaller and UFC history was shorter.
