Why is Nate letting his hard-earned time at the top slip away here?

He found himself at the top of a big card, by earning it inside the octagon.

His opponent pulls out, but I'm sure they would have found him a good replacement and he would have made a nice payday and maybe continue a great roll and a great period in his careeer.

Now, to act like he doesn't want to fight anyone except Conor, seems like he's wasting a golden, peak - earning period.

who else can he fight that will earn him as much as fighting Conor would? He wants paid, he doesnt care about topping a card

Dude, if he gets paid ppv points on the 'biggest card ever' (until the next event) it doesn't matter who he's fighting.

I think it is super dumb. He'd still get Conor on a later card. I would fight someone else and make money. Gotta strike while the iron is hot.

I'm sure he's earning substantially more than he was prior to having fought Conor the first time, regardless of whom his opponent may be.

it does if one guy sells 750k more ppvs than another guy

Thinking is not the strong suit of either Diaz. Fighting is.

it wont be the "biggest card ever" with the current card, and again.... who will he fight that would make him as much as fighting Conor would?

true, but he wants millions instead of hundreds of thousands.... them big cheques must be addictive lol

they will work it out, i mean the ufc would have replaced conor already if they were serious

I'd like to know the details (as I'm sure would we all). Did he earn PPV points for his fight with McGoob? I assume it was some crazy flat rate, but was it only a one fight contract? Did the contract for this fight stipulate PPV points or was it somehow contingent on his place on the card or number of PPV buys?

These are the questions which plague a man...

Maybe it has something to do with the humiliation of watching all of your boys around you getting paid big money while you get breadcrumbs by the company that you've been with for a decade

Zuffa clearly has never had the best interests of Nate's bank account at heart

yeah Id like to know that as well, it seems that the stipulation of fighting Conor(especially on short notice) is a hefty pay increase. Although Im not sure if its just for that fight or what?

They probably drew a contract for that fight alone, would be my guess. I just don't believe his pay would be contingent on fighting Conor specifically or that he is earning a % of PPV sales, so that leads to the assumption that whatever he was going to make at UFC 200 (say it was 1 million flat) should be on the table regardless, but who knows. The UFC seems to employ a loose set of rules which are all in their favor ad far as these contracts go.

Nick Diaz was right when he said he only wanted high profile fights. Nate probably made more money n gained more popularity in this one fight alone than his whole entire career. This is his last or one of his last mega payday.

He doesn't have a PPV points contract. He gets what they pay him. If they won't pay him what he wants, he won't fight.

It's easy here, who could Headline this ppv that nate would beat? RDA? Lawler? GSP? Nobody else could headline over the two title fights and Diaz won't beat any of them! He wants the easy fight and the big pay day before (as he put it) the UFC tries to knock him off his pedestal

There won't be as many PPV buys without Conor, it'll do 750,000 tops. The amount of money that his PPV points buys will be at least double vs McGregor. He wants to get paid, and he knows who he has to fight to get paid.
