They are always portrayed as evil martial arts. It doesn't even matter if karate man is white or Japanese or other ethnicity. They are always portrayed by evil characters.

Respectful in reality:

Common man, karate teaches respect and decency.

Yeah but if I wanted to watch Donnie Yen tackle all of those guys and dry hump them to exhaustion I would watch "This Ain't Ip Man."

Japan is, historically, a bogeyman in that region of the world - an Imperialist island power that periodically sails in and messes up everyone's day. Karate, being Japanese, has a stigma for being what the bad guys use because of this.

Also, unlike the continental martial arts, Karate doesn't teach you to hit like a girl so it makes sense for the bad guy to be a Karate guy, so he's scary and imposing rather than looking like he's breakdancing.

Just give IP man fictional Chin Na/Shuai Jaiou abilities. ( Chinese wrestling)

That's because those examples are Hong Kong/Chinese martial arts/kung fu movies. Kung Fu is Chinese, while karate is Japanese, and you know the history between those two countries

Yes I understand, but how long are we going to keep reliving 100 years ago!?

Like enough is enough! How about making movies that take place in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. Or make a movie about a Kung Fu master sharing their skills with Okinawans who used it to create karate. But every movie= shitting on karate.

Even in karate kid, Cobra kai was Japanese/Korean karate while Mr. Miyagi is Kung Fu/Okinawan. Its as if to say that Kung Fu guys are still the good guys.

Karate guy in this video was just an all-around better fighter with higher fight IQ.

He saw that the drunken-style kung fu practitioner lacked any semblence of good kicking technique or kick defense and kept him at range with his superior kicking techniques.

On top of that, drunken-style kung fu dude refused to adapt or use a different style of kung fu to deal with the karate kicks. Indicative of having low fight IQ.

Most of those films mentioned are done by Chinese.
Chinese Nationalism is big on hyping up local arts (Kung Fu) and destroying the main racial enemy's art (embodied by Karate).
Ironically Karate was developed in Japan from Chinese influence...Which is hilarious.
Japanese historically fought with the sword aka Kenjutsu or other weapons like Kusarigama or Odachi, rarely unarmed (which was peasant/poor way of fighting), and if they did they favoured soft arts like Jiu Jitsu to take down the adversary and fuck him up.

I guess because most martial arts movies are/were Chinese and their boogeyman was the Japanese?

I'm an old karate guy and many, many years ago I was training with back then an older karate guy name Frank Hargrave ( Hargrove ). He told a Bruce Lee story of when Bruce first moved to Seattle and visited the local karate school he trained at. No one knew who Bruce was of course but just that he was this little skinny Chinese guy that was crazy fast. He said Bruce had a hard time with the bigger Americans kicks but said his speed was for real. True or not....who knows

Which karate guy because there are several fights and EVERY karate guy OWNED every kung fool guy.

Ninjas the bad guys

Yes they are but technically speaking it does make sense due to assassination. Sometimes they are portrayed as liberators who are fighting an evil warlord through covert methods. Either way, the very essence of ninja revolves around violence and/or deception.

But karate is just an art form. No different than Kung Fu or other striking styles. Yet they are always portrayed by evil characters. Mr. Miyagi is probably the first karateka who is benevolent and yet he even mentions that his grandpa falling asleep, waking up in China and learning Kung Fu while not bother to explain to Daniel the Okinwanas Te style.

So in a sense, even Mr. Miyagi is looked upon as a Kung Fu guy in a way.

Karate is from Okinawa and Japan appropriated it after they took over the island

I watched the first one and then skipped around, didn't realize they were different people.
