Do you mean that Brits wrote down Indian history, which exposes some ugly things for Hindu nationalists, or that they messed up in writing their history?

The former, i.e. they wrote down the facts , which Hindu elites don't like because it shows their ancestors / identity in a piss poor light.

He was when he arrived in South Africa. He wasn't really a pacifist then either.
By most accounts, his views had changed by the time he left the country - a couple years serving in the British ambulance corps, and seeing British wartime brutality against the Boers and the Zulus changed him somewhat.

It is a religious symbol. Hitler took it and gave it an alternate meaning.

Maybe because Gandhi and hitler were pen pals. Even though Gandhi disapproved of what Hitler did.
