Im most likely the biggest (or only) Lombard fan on this forum but hes on a really bad losing streak right now and even managed to lose to some1 like Anthony Smith (despite winning round 1 and 2) so lets be honest he really needs some lowest of the low opponents to somewhat build him up again and CB Dollaway is definetely a step above Anthony Smith or even current Johny Hendricks so why did the UFC book this, i believe Lombard will lose this 1 and get cut :(

with that being said heres a pic of his current shape:

CB is coming off a long layoff, so that defo plays apart, I think it's a decent match up for both.

I didn't think Lombard fans still existed in the wild.

He should hang up his gloves and just become a pro bodybuilder.

Anthony Smith is fucking awesome. Check his fights out

If he can't beat CB Dolloway he has no business being in the UFC.

Hard work and genetics brah.

simple he git a fight left on his deal and it likely easier to let him fight it out than to cut him.

I don't see UFC resigning Lombard back without a drastic pay cut if he wins. If he loses this fight, they will release him and let him lose again to Moose in Bellator. Only this time Moose finishes him

if "what is best for Hector Lombard" and/or "what Hector Lombard deserves" were the only criteria involved, your critique would make some sense.

but match making is algebra, not arithmetic. there are many variables. never consider fight matchups - or anything in MMA for that matter - in a vacuum.

CB Dolloway needs a fight, both fighters are decent names, and UFC needs low-ish paid guys with names on the prelims. oh, and Hector probably keeps CB standing, potentially making it a halfway interesting bout.

but don't take my word for it. here's Denzel's explanation:

Chances are they're not trying to rebuild him, they're trying to wrap up whatever fights remain on his deal before they move on.

if you want him to start building up again, he'll be like 45 before he's at the top. doesn't really have time to take low risk fights.
