I can see the argument that he has greatly improved his career at welterweight but at the same time, who has he really beat?

- 50 year old Demian Maia
- Post Usman defeated Woodley
- Wonderboy who he hugged onto for his dear life + punched the back of the head. Belal remember the averageness dominated Wonderboy after that.

Had a decent first seconds of the first round vs Usman, proceeded to get his chin cracked and ass beat.

And people are expecting him to beat Chimaev?

It won’t even be competitive. Remember this thread when it’s all said and done.

Yeah I actually kind of agree. I’ve never rated him as highly as some other people on here.

Still had him beating Wonderboy though, just wasn’t expecting him to turn it into a cuddle fest.

You can make the same argument about the top 5 at welterweight after their opponents get old.

covington - who has he beat?
Old Maia
Deflated Woodley
Out of prime Lawler
Shop worn RDA

Luque - who has he beat?
michael “who really cares” Chelsea
Deflated Woodley
Shop worn RDA
Randy Brown

Leon Edwards
Over the hill Diaz
Shop worn RDA
Should retired a long time ago Cowboy

All of the above are beast in their own right, but they came up as their competition went down and none of them fought each other so all of their resumes look about equal
But Usman beat most of them

edit: Thanks to another poster @mmadeewana for clarifying. Edwards fought & beat luque 5 years ago. The point remains, if you look at their opponents in retrospect they all look about the same. Burns shouldn’t get any more hate than the others.

Burns is solid no reason to shit on him. That being said its the typical "haters back anyone vs hyped fighter" scenario where the next fight is always going to be the one to expose said hype train.

Even still I imagine most people are picking Hazmat to win

He's still one of the top WW.

It's a weak division. This is why half of Usman's defences are against a journeyman like Masdival.

Luque never fought RDA. And Leon Edwards beat Luque.
