A very mysterious phenomena takes place when Fedor fights in the US in regulated mma, he instantly goes from his 2 best performances to being old, shot and past prime the minute that he fights in strike force. 1 year before he has the best victory of his career against arlovski then instantly becomes a "slow shadow of himself" once he fights Werdum. Do any resident sherdog physicians have an idea what the cause of this reaction is?

Fedor was 33 at the time, had 1 "loss" and had taken little damage so far, contrast this with Overeem now who is now 37 has had 14 KO losses and has recently had some of the best performances of his career against JDS, Arlovski and Hunt.

You must forgot where he wrecked Sylvia and killed Arlovski and tapped out Coleman

that's what im saying, he had the two best performances of his career fast forward one year and he's now a "shadow of himself". How exactly does that work?

Because he fought nearly 30 fights there before fighting elsewhere.

Imagine Cain Velasquez getting up to 30 fights, then having to fight in a different country, different organization, in a ring, with different rules, and different judging.

He won his first 4 fights in America.

You must not have ever watched any sports.

Most athletes decline after 10 to 12 years (if that) and then retire.

MMA is the most grueling sport of them all.

Fedor had a National judo team career before his 40+ MMA fights and was competing in World Sambo championships concurrently.

Why is this so hard to understand?

What about Cain and JDS? They also declined around 33 years old and are now past their prime.

It happens, kid.

How have cain and JDS declined, both just put on the best performance against Rothwell and browne respectively.

Also look at Aldo, Shelftime, Cowboy etc (although some of those are arguable).

fedor peaked much earlier than typical heavyweights cause speed was such a part of his game. maybe the fastest HW of all time. speed goes before power.

Yet overeem went from pride to kickboxing to ufc/strikeforce and now he's putting on the best performances of his career.

some people just get old overnight. it is a very common tale in sports (especially combat sports).

Fedors prime was like Tysons prime...he was in it until he lost.
Both Fedor and Tyson had all their atheltic ability when they lost, the truth is they both fucking lost end of story.
How is a prime Fedor going to not get caught in that armbar by werdum?
The fact is he got out skilled, triangle to armbar beautifully done, prime has nothing to do with it, but his die hards will claim otherwise

Have you turned 33 yet and done any real exercise or athletics in your life?

Fedor was an undersized HW who relied on insane speed. They say power's the last thing to go, but speed is usually the first. With age he lost his quickness advantage and the rest is history.

Somehow Sherdog can't comprehend that people do in fact age and that age correlates with athletic performance. Is the NFL full of 40 year olds? I guess Ray Lewis was a bum because he can't still compete in the NFL. WTF.

Yet Hendo was like 10 years older than him lmao, just face the fact that Fedor fought better competition and lost nuthugger.
