The matchmaking is a product of Endeavor having acquired the UFC. Dana isnt a Tzar. Major fights are a company strategy. Matchups were much better when the Fertittas still owned the company - and Dana was still the president then.

funny how someone names sean shelby has the title of match maker and most fights are made when number 1 beats number 2 to fight the champ.

Just because you’re successful and elevated the sport doesn’t mean you’re not a piece of shit.

He does not take care of fighters. They have no legal ability’s to collectively bargain for living wages. Fighters are almost entirely reliant on sponsors and their social media presence to survive. Since you have a problem holding two ideas in your head at once (see 2nd paragraph) it may also be difficult for you to calculate the take home earnings of a fighter on the two fight checks they receive a year on average from the UFC..

I first came to Sherdog in 2006 when Pride fell down. Everybody was hating on Dana, I didn't know why. i didn't understand why fans were concerned with some organization employee. I was here for the fights and fighters. I didn't understand why he has to show his face on the weigh ins. I came to understand why he is so hated. 13 years have past, everybody is still hating on dana. I am a devoted dana hater too. We couldn't get rid of dana, but dana will free the sport of mma from the ufc.

He was a not insignificant part of the UFCs growth in popularity tbh. A colourful personality and visible figurehead whos look and personality contrasted a lot with "old man in suit" boxing promoters and fit the image of MMA at the time.

Dana is alright. My biggest issue with him is that he's a 50+ year old bro. After a certain point, it just doesn't work anymore, Dana. Just go with getting older, bro.

Say what you want about Dana White but you can't deny what he did for the sport of MMA along with other prominent figures obviously, the fact is he made it appear more professional. Do you really think MMA would have become as popular and recognized from main stream media as it is now if pride was on top

And i don't understand he makes terrible fight matches that no one wants, unlike boxing he makes the fights happen such as Paulo Costa vs Yoel Romero, Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal,
Colby Covington vs Kamaru Usman etc

MMA as a whole was better off without him. PRIDE would have found a way past their Yakuza corruption scandal and continued being the epitome of mixfight. Also having UFC competition they would never get away with the shit cards dominated by manlets, WMMA, Colby Covington style point fighting and washed up hype machines like Conor and Ronda

+ Over the years pay improved, top10 guys in most divisions have opportunities to earn well, top 1-2 get really good money. The bottom 10/10k guys are screwed but this isnt NBA, market is not there to support 500k salaries for the whole roster

fighters in the ufc make good money. there are fighters on bellator 228 card on saturday that took home 2k and had to sell tickets to fight. isnt bellator wrong for that as well.
