I wouldn't give Pettis the edge in the stand-up over anyone in modern day. His striking ability is basically theoretical at this point considering he barely throws a strike the whole fight. Also, this is mma.... not kickboxing... and he will get wrestled with ease and likely cut after

pettis boxing is not good

people on sherdog generalize his striking as a whole to be amazing because his kicks are elite. But the truth is, only his kicks are elite... and kicking is very easy to game plan for when the opponents boxing game is weak.

Chiesa will walk him down.
hell use his defensive footwork and offensive footwork to disrupt pettis kicking game.
use his reach advantage in his boxing range to out box pettis and set up the takedowns with it.
While in boxing range, Pettis pillow fists will give chiesa a nice massage, and chiesa will reply with a thank you.
Once its on the ground, pettis is there for the rest of the round.
Rinse and repeat for every single round if Chiesa hasnt already submitted him.

Only way I see Pettis winning is via guillatine if Chiesa is stupid with his takedown.
