Other fighters want to fight him. Dustin thinks beating him will get him a title shot. Media is pushing him as a top contender and I think Dana regards him as a top fighter at LW too.
Why? I can get Dustin as a top fighter as he really is great. But chandler? Dude is past his prime and he is 2-2 in ufc. Is it because he is entertaining? Gaethje has been doing it for far longer.
It's pretty surprising tbh. Guy is still top 5, with wins over Dan and Tony.

Gaethje has been entertaining for far longer than Chandler? Chandler had one of the best fights of all time with Eddie in 2011.... Where he emerged as one of the best LWs in the world. Gaethje was 2-0 in MMA then in his first year in the sport as a pro. Chandler has been a top LW and one of the most exciting fighters in the division when Gaethje was just starting in MMA....

Why do so many Khabib and Conor stans have 50 IQ regarding MMA and its history <{cruzshake}>

Chandler is past his prime and has never been the best of the best but the guy is an incredible athlete and has taken part in some very exciting fights. I'll never miss a Chandler fight. His wars with Eddie are all time fights and I highly suggest anyone who hasn't seen them to oo seek them out. For Chandler to do what he did to Eddie so early on his career was shocking stuff in the moment.

Actually...

Because of his hype from the fights with Eddie and Brooks. He has only beaten Tony and Hooker who had lost at least 4 of their last 5 fights.

But he is fun to watch, bouncy as a manlet but with KO power. And he seems like a nice and smart dude.

I think that Chandler is a guy that gets a lot of chances because he is an exciting fighter. Simply put, it's an entertainment industry and Chandler is a top tier entertainer. Also, his fights feel like UFC vs Bellator, which is an intrigue of its own

i think cause he was champ in belator and he is entertaining basically they want to keep him high ranked for big fights you know

he also almost beat charles for belt

Because his career did not start in the UFC, he's beat two very good fighters, and had other two very good fighters in deep trouble.

So long story short: he is regarded as a top fighter because he is a top fighter.

I agree he was great in bellator but has he really earned that top 5 ranking in the ufc? From his performances in the ufc? I don't know.

He appeals to fans that like watching brawls and he drapes himself in the American flag. Pretty simple formula for gaining UFC fans.

There’s nothing special about him as a fighter. Losing a round to Tony Ferguson in 2022 should have led to him being cut, that’s inexcusable.

I’m fine with it, though, I’ll keep betting against him.
