Why is Anik talking about fighters and custody battles?

I mean he's talked about how it's helped his mma career since like 2019.

Geeze!!!!

Rogan brought it up again in the post fight interview

You'd think being an announcer, Joe would do his homework and ask about 100 fight-related things instead of Gutierrez not being legally allowed to see his children.

Next Anik will say "Fighter X has 3 children with 3 different baby mamas but always pays child support on time."

[<taker1}
They've said that several times about Brazilian cowboy lmao, except its more like 5-7 baby mommas and he stays broke

Same thing with Walt Harris and what happened with his daughter. The UFC used as promoting. I thought that was fucked.

I saw Laura Sanko do this during contender series all time made bunch fighters cry bringing up deaths in family when just won

gross

I get down with Anik, I think his improvements in the commentary game have been great, although it was hard to get much worse when he began. Custody battle talk = no bueno.

That’s why I don’t watch the interviews after the fights or anything press conferences and all that hype. I just want to see the best fighter win. I could give a shit what you’re going through, it’s life. But some reason these American networks are all about trying to get the person on the couch to relate to the athlete on the television. It’s why a guy been in the NFL for 15 years and they still mention what college he went to every time they mention the players names.

Or reality shows or something. I've seen parts of various Undercover Boss episodes back when it first started and it's hilarious how some of those people are just the most knocked down, drug through the dirt people. There's never a "I come in, do my job, and go home" people from what I've seen. Everyone always has some deep story on television.

Which is also a very american thing isn't it. Yanks have to be overly melodramatic about everything. They're addicted to hollywood movies, shows, tabloids etc. which teaches them that everything in life has to have a cheesy narration and every basic issue is some epic struggle for survival.

I’m sure the sons of the fighters are watching this.

If they don’t understand it now, they will one day. Kids know what’s up when that this is going on. Pure trash.

There was literally no segue into that statement. Sweet broadcasting

It projects into real life as well. People talk up their life like they are putting up with so much. Honey, we all work hard, we all have to earn our money, we all have to pay for things we want, and so on.
