Why I think Holloway will win

First off the only thing that has me worried is that it's on 6 days notice and he's coming off of an injury but besides that let's look at Khabib for a second. Khabib has only finished 2 of his last 6 fights, one finish was over Darrell Horcher and the other was a submission over Michael Johnson (he's been submitted 8 times). MJ has no ground game but it took Khabib until rd 3 to finish him, Barboza has no ground game and Khabib couldn't finish him, Khabib couldn't take Tibau down and Trujillo got back to his feet like 20 times. MJ lit Khabib up on the feet so the longer this fight stays on the feet the worse it will be for Khabib. Holloway is an accurate volume striker that gets better as the fight goes on. If Holloway's cardio isn't effected too badly by the short notice Khabib will be in trouble if this goes past rd 2 and in all likelihood it will.

You have not made any real argument as to why Max will win.

Also by your standards of groundgame Max also has none.
 
Khabib is a legend in the making. All you doubters will soon be silenced...
 
I am a big fan of Khabib and Max, and I think that he has steel balls for stepping up on short notice. Max definitely has the striking advantage, but as soon as Khabib takes him down he is not getting up. Khabib is way too smothering on top. I see a stoppage somewhere in the third.

Even a loss to Khabib won’t affect Max’ legacy though. He’s still the 145 king.

He subbed Cub and hasn't been taken down in 4 years, MJ got tapped out by Elkins ffs. Khabib is not a finisher and has nothing for Max on the feet, even if he can take Max down early on eventually those takedowns will get harder and at that point Khabib will be fucked. Khabib also looks terrible, probably having a terrible weight cut, even with the short notice Holloway will have the cardio advantage, I guarantee it.
 
I understand that lots of you believe Khabib is over-rated and shouldn't be regarded as high while not having won a single UFC belt yet. That's pretty fair. Holloway is still not the guy to beat Khabib though, especially in those poor conditions.

I agree with you TS. Khabib said it himself styles make fights. We will see if khabib will grapple the whole time or stand up with max. I think max is a bad matchup for khabib in the stand up
 
This is an interesting fight but I dunno man I haven’t even processed Tony pulling out yet.

Max is a champ who destroyed Aldo twice over and 12 straight wins. TF out of here thinking HIS cardio is an issue, even if it was a days notice. People don't get it how actual athletes MAINTAIN their SnC, only barely losing any by not training. Holloway will win this fight. Either 1 by his insane VOLUME and ACCURATE striking, or 2 by catching a choke on Khabob

Ok now you bring some solid arguments.

But Max did not outgrapple Cub. He caught him with a guillotine after a tough fight with mostly stand up.

A good move that could help him vs Khabib.

But Max has not put his TDD on display against anyone even close to Khabib's calibre.

Khabib has not shown any cardio issues at all so far. And Max has not shown power that will make Khabib respect his punches a lot.

Max at his absolute peak would have a solid shot imo. But to do what you suggest he needs insane endurance. Coming of an injury, without preparation and with 6 days for a brutal cut it is not likely that he will have that endurance or the timing, game plan etc.

I would be amazed if he pulled it off as it would be an insane performance. But it is sooo unlikely.

Either a UD or late sub like with Johnson.
 
Other thing that rogan and schaub pointed out is that he's great while finding while moving backward, which could be a key to beating khabib
