For someone lauded for staying in good physical shape between fights and relatively injury free, he's been a once a year fighter for a good chunk of his career. Ring rust and inactivity is a real thing that impacts performance, and he's been paying the price in his last several outings.

Ran out of aging fighters

The superstar of the division trying to get his 4th title fight again. That's It and Dana gives him ago over and over. Because he promised to be a forever UFC fighter.

My theory is that he knows it's an extremely taxing fighting style that destroys the body quickly, but also very effective. He only had a few years with that peak before his body gave out but I think he stretched it out longer by not fighting frequently and only taking money fights.

How does he afford to live, if fighting is his profession, but he rarely fights? Does he coach somewhere? Is he so well known that he gets bigger paydays than most? I don't get it.

Because he made a career of being the runner up and saying "B-b-but I was competitive!!" Then fighting 40 year olds or sitting out until he gets another gift titleshot.

Dudes a cherry picker and finally fought someone with a pulse and got mollywhopped

In the moment there were posters here commenting how "smart" Colby is sitting out and making the best moves for prize fighting. Well it came at a cost of his legacy. He has one of the worst resumes for a top 5 fighter what feels like forever.

I've heard mixed opinions on his contract set-up. It was either Masvidal or Usman who were making fun of him having a contract that only paid out a set guaranteed amount, as opposed to earning PPV points when he was on a near million selling PPV card.
