This might come as a surprise to you but these fighters that choose to get repeatedly hit in the head for a career aren't usually the best and brightest of the bunch. This is why they rely on and pay a lot of money for quality coaching. Great examples of this are Mayweather and Mike Tyson. Both guys are completely brain dead but they had some of the best coaching and discipline and as a result, they were invincible (While Tyson was under Cus D'mato's wing).

Johnny Walker has never had a great coaching team around him and hence his skills have remained stagnant and around the same level as when he first came into the UFC. If he doesn't get cut, sure, he might hit another can or debutant with a flying knee but until he actually makes positive changes and moves to a quality camp that is all he will ever amount to.

Have you read Tysons biography or Kevin Rooneys book? The training that Cus put Tyson through was so brutal it was borderline child abuse.

What I'm trying to say you medium iq pleb is that the plumber might not look smart to you. But through his work, effort and studies he has an understanding of physics, logic and handiness developed over the years that the high IQ lawyer can not replicate. A fish swims and a bird flies.

Johnny Walker can bang hard, but he has the fight IQ of a toaster, and the defensive capabilities of a puppy.

Rib cage isn't wide open unless you have a loose high guard. Most don't do the high guard properly and that's why they have a lot of openings. A lot hold it up too high and only focus on blocking their head.

Not really. Only if you don't know how to adjust to body shots and take downs from high guard. Boxers use the high guard and block body shots just fine with it. Yan has no problem with TDD while using high guard. You can frame from there pretty easily when the takedowns come if you can read the takedowns and have TDD.

Well, Yan can do it, but Yan is an exceptionally skilled fighter.

It's obviously not impossible to defend against body shots and takedowns with a high guard, but other things equal, it's probably a little more difficult to defend them with a high guard than if you have a low hands style like Bobby Green.
