When you’re televised or on the main card, you get interviews from the media, featured in videos/news etc.
When you’re on the Fight Pass prelims, nothing.
Last week you had a beast like Zabit as the first fight on the night on Fight Pass — even behind Bec Rawlings — and dude was getting no promo but luckily, he got elevated to the PPV due to the Conor incident and since that ‘fight of the night’ performance, I’ve noticed he’s been getting a lot of buzz. Featured on Ariel’s show, people buzzing about how he went to boarding school for martial arts in the mountains.
I read a lot of people on here saying, they’re just trying to promote Fight Pass and get people to subscribe. Where exactly is the marketing though?
You don’t ever see these guys features on Road To The Octagon, Embedded, media day interviews, Twitter/Instagram posts, or whatever. Not to mention, a lot of times when you’re the first fight on the card, the crowd is empty so even fans in the arena haven’t seen you fight. And you’re less likely to win FOTN. If Bochniak/Zabit was the first fight in an empty arena like planned, would it have been the same?
I mean, I’ve seen a few ads when I scroll through Instagram, but again let me reiterate, that ad was for Lobov/Caceres, not Zabit who was behind fucking Bec Rawlings. When you’re featured in a social media post, people start tagging their friends and get excited and reminded about the fight.
So what exaclty is the UFC doing? You want me to buy Fight Pass to watch someone fight but they ain’t getting no shine? Shit is ass-backwards.
