Why doesn't anyone care that DC gloated about knocking out sparring partners?

Isn't the point of sparring that you're going lighter with people who are helping you prepare for a fight? Why is it a good thing - or at the very least, why is it not a bad thing - that DC is happy about injuring those people? That's not a normal occurrence in training camp, is it?

EDIT: To those of you saying DC said "knocking down" rather than "knocking out," I'm referring the the octagon interview where he used these exact words:
"Hey, I weighed in a little heavy yesterday. It's because I was knocking out all my training partners! Now I got to do it in the octagon!"

AKA gonna AKA

I could be wrong, but I do recall him saying that he knocked them down rather than out.

I know he said he dropped them which seems normal - I don't know if he meant legit KO cold though.

He said he was knocking them down, not out. And the point of him saying it wasn't that he was bragging about hurting people, but that he and his coaches realized he was much stronger at 245 than when he's lighter. If it happened and they learned something from it, then what's the problem with telling people?

Depends on the team. Some boxing gyms I've been to that were run by former Olympians were terribly run and the coaches let the guys knock each others blocks off every night. Other coaches nip that shit in the bud and kick out repeat offenders.

Modern thought is that you avoid hard sparring leading up to a fight because of low reward and high risk. Well-run light sparring is just as effective. Dumb meat heads often disagree with this.

He’s a fake person that has a huge ego. When Jon told him that he can take him down when they first met, he got emotional. Jon was trying to start a new friendship and wasn’t serious about it

I tried to find the clip on YouTube, but it looks like the UFC cut out that part of the interview.

A fighter gloating about knocking out other fighters? Preposterous.

Were Cruz and DC saying knocking out or down? I can't remember.

I mean, it could be that someone took a hard shot and went to a knee on their own or given the waive off. That happens. I don't think he means eye rolling back into the head type stuff. But AKA is a different animal.

No. Current mma fans thing sparring for a fight is play time.

You spar for real. Otherwise you have no timing. And you get in the pattern of fighting at a sparring pace.

Not one that considers people getting knocked out regularly in practice a good thing, anyway.

Well yes and no...not that I am any expert but I have sparred a good bit in the past. It's a dance that both partners kinda dictate and escalate as they feel each other out. Generally, "going to had" is frowned upon unless that's the type a dance "they" want. You either warn your partner to ease up or escalate to their level. So it goes.

Trainers will dial that shit back on you as well.

I'm sure everyone involved knew what there were getting into.

Considering he got knocked out by Mike Pyle, I wonder how often do fighters knocked out at AKA.

It’s a bit different if it’s agreed hard sparring for fight prep compared to guys like Lombard and Barnett injuring gym newbs.

You have to take it on a case by case/circumstantial basis imo.

I don’t think he’s automatically a d-bag for doing it.

From what we saw from the training vids his main sparring partners seemed to be Ivanov and Cain so he ko'd both of them?
