Why doesn’t Dennis Siver get more credit for retiring BJ Penn?

Dennis Siver retired a two division champ. Give him his hespect around here.

Frankie beat the best form of BJ. Motivated BJ wishes he was as smooth as Tip Toe BJ.

Because BJ penn would probably come back for another ass whooping very soon

Did you see the fight? Both guys looked like shit.

BJ stood there and got beat up except for 15 seconds where he knocked Siver down and looked confused as to what was supposed to happen next.

Cause it isn't that good of a win, even for another shot fighter in Dennis Siver.

If Denis Siver beat BJ, that means he can take Lyoto and GSP to decision and beat prime Gomi.

(sherdog logic)

and BJ was never that good. He fought easy competition.

Siver was a journeyman. He was good, but not great. He had some good wins and some tough losses. He 21 fights in the UFC spanning a decade, damn. 13-8 record tells most of the story. He was better than average, but not much more.

I think he'd be remembered slightly more respectfully except that he crossed paths with Conor McGregor. The worst of McGregor's fans shit all over anyone he ever beat; and the worst of McGregor's haters can hardly bring themselves to admit that any fighter McGregor beat was any good at all, except Aldo who lost accidentally. Loving or hating a polarizing fighter is part of the sport, but too many people take that shit out on their opponents.

Nick Diaz retired him first

This. He came into the Diaz fight off a KO of Matt Hughes and a very competitive fight with Fitch. The first round against Nick was the last time BJ ever looked competitive in the octagon.

Why doesn’t the GOAT get more credit for anything?

What you wrote is total horse shit. People dislike Conor because everything he did was FOR CONOR. He is as selfish a fighter as the UFC has ever seen. No matter what anyone says, he will never fight in the UFC again now that me got the Mayweather fight money........mark my words.

Lol? I made no comment at all about why people do or do not like Conor McGregor. I'm sure you're a great poster on other topics and I'm sure you're a nice person and are kind to dogs, etc. But some people lose their minds when McGregor is mentioned, and you appear to be one of them.

My only point was that I think the way people see Siver is slightly impacted by their opinions of other fighters. I think he'd otherwise get a bit more respect as a gritty mid tier guy who made a decent career out of prizefighting.

Yep, and Bj went for it also. He actually fought a Nick.

Siver isn't that good of a fighter. I guess you could say he's ok...but BJ Penn retired himself, and should have retired 4 fights before that.

I thought sherdog logic is if you beat somebody a long time ago even if it’s early in their career than that person can never beat you. Also, no fighters can improve over their careers and no new fighters deserve any attention and will it get better. Lastly, mma peaked after only being around for around a decade unlike any other sport in history.

Omg wtf we hate him because he doesn't defend and only wants lots of money.

Omg wtf no one is talking about why you do or do not hate Conor McGregor. I'm saying I think it affects people's attitudes toward Dennis Siver.

edit: Wait, I just got trolled didn't I?
