No they dont. For the moment tv officials only intervene in "try" plays - and even then there are big controversies, see Aviva Premiership final. And i dont think Rugby is a great example. Fucking Richie McCaw - and a bunch of others like Smith, Burger et alia- played offside in the rucks, always entering from the sides for years and nobody on the IRB Board seemed to give a fuck about it.

Actually they can go back as many phases as the ref seems necessary if he thinks there is an infringement in the scoring of a try. The video ref can also point out infringements that the ref has not seen during a breakdown in play.

Time to eat crow, youre right. Didnt follow these last Six Nations since I left the island and it seems after the trials the role of TMO has grow and now referees are sometimes calling for video reviews while on-play, and watching the replays on the stadiums screen while entering with a dialogue with the TMO.

I think they should allow play to continue if a trip occurs or if someone dives. They should allow it to continue, until the tripper team, or culprit team takes the ball into their offensive zone past that mid field line and turns it over. Then the tripped team or violated team gets a corner kick or a free kick from anywhere outside the goalie box. Any goals that occur will be allowed by either team. This will crack down on diving, and force these soccer players to grow some balls.

Lets face it, they need a reason for that stupid line in the middle anyways. And what is up with the circle?

Or they can allow play to continue and then offer a power play. Can you imagine that, a power play in soccer or one man advantage?

that is why you don't penalize until the culprit team turns it over in their offensive zone. If anything stops the flow and turns it into a series of set plays, it is diving that does that. They stop the game, and start it up again. My suggestions allows the game to continue even if all the players flop to the ground.
