Why does Shogun do so poorly in the UFC compared to Pride?

Him and Wandy had a hard time in the UFC, at least Shogun was a champ in UFC. Even rampage was not all that spectacular in the UFC either, and he was a champ as well....

Almost all the Pride guys came in UFC already battered, just speaking about Wand i think in the Crocop fights he cuts away at least one year from his career due the demage accumlated.

I'd say his youth was the biggest thing but lets not forget that he won the championship here but ran into the GOAT. There is also the head stomping and soccer kicks that he used but I would say that being older in the UFC and being a contemporary of Jon Jones.

Age,different rulest,injuries. People need to remember how they used to their training in Chute Boxe, they beat the shit out of each other in that gym, that for sure took a lot of the best of wand and shogun

Not really, he showed loads of heart after that match but following the 3rd ACL surgery he's never shown the same level of agility again, that and cardio was such a big part of his success.

Ruleset and arena are huge. Shogun is a fighter who specializes in soccer kicks and stomps.

For some reason he also fought different in the UFC. He went for punches more and didn't use his kicks as much, and he didn't really do his body lock takedowns which he was so known for in Pride.

His takedowns setup devastating kicks and stomps. So since those were illegal I guess he didn't.bother and changed his fight strategy to punching. But he was never really elite at stand-up boxing.

Rampage was far better in the UFC than in Pride. Not surprising because Page is a wrestler who boxes.

I've long said that the fight meta in the UFC favors wrestle boxers. No surprise that Page, who is a wrestle-boxer, did significantly better in the UFC compared to his performances in Pride.
