This, and not much ruins a legends status as hanging on way too long. It's sad and not enjoyable to watch. It leaves a sour taste to see someone who, had they retired in their prime, were damn near immortal. Now they look like sloppy old men.

Every 6-12 months, I hop back in to make a few posts, then leave again. The Sherdog forums went downhill in the same way all online forums do. The normies overcrowded the original cool people, the shitposters showed up to troll the normies, and the original cool people moved on to other pastures. Ah, well.
 
Sherdog has had the most obnoxious Fedor fans for a solid decade. The people who see reality and see him as overrated are the minority. On the front page RIGHT NOW there are people saying Fedor could legitimately be a top 5 UFC HW. Right now.

It was OK to loudly be a Fedor fan in the early 00s. He was the best. No question. Then he became a professional can crusher and org. tanker. The cult of Fedor on Sherdog was always way way out of proportion.

Because much like Jose Aldo, Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell etc, he was never that good and got exposed.
 
New era in MMA which means new fans. Most people don't know about Fedor and when they look him up they only see his present performances and him losing tonight doesn't help so they judge him based on that. Fedor is all class though and always fights like a warrior no matter win or lose.

Because he never fought in the ufc for some reason. If he would've fought in the ufc, like all the top pride guys he fought did, then I might be singing a different tune, but the pride crossovers didn't pan out, even though a couple won the title, just take a look at their records.

Big nog 5-6
Cro cop 4-6
Shogun 9-9
Lil nog 5-5

These are just 4 off the top of my head with a combined ufc record of 23-26, not imprezzive. Who knows what fedor record might of been.

That's true, but using the same logic you also have die hard fans using Fedor's Pride and Affliction fights as reasons why he would have ran through the UFC even today or a few years ago while failing to take into account that at the top of the game the skill level has increased since Fedor's prime.

Also I am one of his biggest fans, but sometimes the fans can be super obnoxious, kinda like Conner fans, or old Anderson fans. Literally nothing can beat them, they are never going to fall off, made of solid gold, etc...Fedor being so dominate for so long had a lot of fans, this lead to a lot of obnoxious emotional posting and some trolling. His fans and UFC shills went back and forth and the rational people got annoyed. Fedors fans can be beyond annoying and this leads to people loving to kick people when they are down because they couldn't for 10 years.

I think Fedor is fantastic. He had a legendary career and is an all time great.

But does respecting him entail pretending he is still a good fighter? Because he isn't and hasn't been for a very long time.
