Fighters are in a different mindset. They're not nearly as anxious as their fans and families watching. They're positively pumped because they're in control of what's happening, while you're just observing from outside unable to control what will happen.

Do you know videos of kids in Russia climbing rooftops? You feel dizzy just watching, but they don't because they're confident in their skill and they feel they're in control. People watching and people doing are in very different mental states.

I get a similar feeling when Anderson fights, and to a lesser extent McGregor, too. I think a lot of it has to do with the anticipation of knowing you might see something spectacular happen on top of being invested emotionally as a fan (be it the fighter or just the sport). If it's the final moments of a big football, soccer, basketball, or baseball game (and I don't even like baseball) I get the same feeling. Knowing what's at stake just adds to the excitement.

Yeah sometimes I get really excited for certain fights/fighters. I can't remember which UFC event it was, but the first event I watched made me go crazy.
