Why does Conor fight at featherweight?

It is good for his health

he looks like he has aids or cancer.

Yes, I agree, but we both know that he doesn't have the concussive power in his hands, and has had trouble finishing lesser strikers than Conor.

That makes Conor the more potent finisher. Despite Aldo overall having more defensive skill, if Conor has 5 rounds to make his power work, which he will, with a chin like that and in his physical prime. And yes, he may have beaten Mendes but he didn't do it wrestling. So my point stands.

If Mendes gets hurt standing and goes for takedowns but can't get it, what makes you think Aldo can?

I'm just saying I don't think Aldo could submit Conor with the ease you suggest, if they start out striking.

Aldo does not have the concussive power not because of his hands, but because he is fighting title contenders. When (and if) Conor gets to fight full camp contenders, we will see how many finishes in the UFC he gets. Go back and see how many finishes Aldo had before becoming a champion and starting to fight contenders. 15 finishes, almost as many Conor's fights.

Yes but he did plenty of things different back then. That's not genuine proof of his abilities now.

And you can say he is only fighting contenders, but that's always gonna be the case, are they are truthfully 1# rank skilled? Hominick was finished shortly after going 5 full rounds with Aldo, same with Lamas and Florian is hardly unfinishable either. He had plenty of opportunities to show he is still that same killer.

Everyone gets finished, eventually. And yes, #1 contender is in theory the best fighter at a certain moment, where he performs at a highest point on his career, but that reality obviously changes as time goes by. Judging Nog's career for his lasts performances only is unfair and shouldn't deny the beast he was at a certain point. So yes, Aldo has been fighting the best-hard to finish. Conor has been fighting upcomers. That's why I believe finishing rates may stall once and if he wears gold.
