Why does Conor fight at featherweight?

Same reason Jose does, because he cuts weight very well.

Fighting Conor will be the first time in a while Jose doesn't have a noticeable size advantage.

Lamas Zombie and Florian all taller and longer reach. Edgar has a longer reach, Hominick was taller. Aldo fights on average at slight size disadvantage. Stop spreading bullshit. Based on the actual numbers every champ from MW down cuts about 10% body weight, including Aldo. Conor cuts 14%. If he moved up to LW with all of the other fighters his size McGregor would still have a reach advantage over all but three top fifteen lightweights. If he was half as confident as he pretends he would fight at 155 and 170 but in his heart he's terrified of anything resembling a fair fight.

Because he would not dominate at LW ... I always found it odd that Conor brags about being bigger than his opponents because it makes him look like a guy who gets his jollies by fighting men smaller than him.

I would like to think that a smart man would STFU about that kind of stuff all things considered.

Once Aldo stops ducking him and Conor takes the belt he said he's up for fighting Frankie but after that he's ready for 155lbs.

He can make the cut - for now. He says he'll be moving up after Aldo fight. He won't want to keep torturing himself to make 145 and he has almost spelt that out.

why would he move up now when he has a title shot; or before when he was in title contention? If he were going to move up he'd first want to win the 145 belt (or lose to Aldo) then move up.

But why bragging about fighting smaller men? Any alpha will keep shut about those details

Conor vs Sanchez would be funny.

I think Conor didn't liked the fact that he was to the decision against Holloway. That's why he wanted to do a LW fight already.

I want to see LW Conor after Aldo already. I'm sure he will be even better there.
Agree.without a touch weight-cut, he will be more powerful and faster. Poirier and whittaker are good examples.

He's going to be the first 3 division champion in history so it makes sense to start at FW which he is already part champion of.

Well he's not going to beat Aldo. So I'm guessing those 3 divisions are:

Conorweight: 146lbs
McGregorweight: 147lbs
Notoriousweight: 148lbs

The first 3 division champion my ass. Mark my words. He can barely defend his feather weigh title a few times.

The homeless-look-alike Connor talks and acts like he is the greatest, yet, fighting opponents who are so tiny that Connor calls them midgets. Great fighters don't fight smaller people. Only suckers like Connor who prefer to fight and bully little kids.

It is good for his health

I work with an ex-meth-head (if there are such animals) that looks just like this pic except the one I work with has no hair. Connor should stop doing this to himself. I think without the benefit of IV rehydrating he is not going to have much choice.

Conor has repeatedly said he wants to win the 145 and 155 belts and hold them simultaneously, as he did in Cage Warriors. He isn't ducking anything or anyone. Once he's fighting at LW the same people that say he's ducking 155 now will be saying he's ducking 170.

I never really understand these types of statements other than as ways to deflect legitimate criticism. Do you seriously, SERIOUSLY think that? He's cutting an asininely irregular amount of weight, almost 16% of his mass. Anthony Johnson used to cut like 19% for a comparison. That is reality. He was fighting at LW right before the UFC called him up and physically belongs there yet he specifically choose to avoid it. That is reality. Being at 145 gives him a distinct, unusually witnessed size advantage. That is reality.

Not many people have an actual problem with the concept of his fighting at FW, just the general lack of recognition that LW will almost definitely be more difficult for him to excel at and his specific avoidance of it, at least for the time being.

Because he loves beating up manlets. Very soon he will move down to the local elementary school and start beating down kids on the playground.

Connors point is a rehydrated 165-170 pounder needn't be under 5'7 to be a top fighter. Even a 5'9er ripped is pretty decently sized at 165+ pounds (like Connor). I'm 5'10 and would cut to 145 as well, and I'm no string bean, with a 275 bench and 400 pound dead. It's not connor is too big for FW, it's the other FW's are blown up bantams.

because he can, if only he could make 135 he would rather fight there
