Why do Thais have so few knockouts

Take petchboonchu for example. In Muay Thai he's known for being a relentless (almost to the point of being stubborn, some found him boring, but effective) clincher who often dominated his opponents who were usually smaller. He also competed in Amateur boxing with success. It's all about the ruleset and Muay Thai has been around long enough to where there isn't much new under the sun that will "revolutionize" it like what MMA is going through right now.

Did superbank do much in boxing? I thought he only fought in the amateurs and failed to make the olympics?
nah he didn't do much but he fought Lazaro Alvarez and lost by decision. If you can go to to toe with Saul Alvarez i wouldn't consider it "shitty hands". I think some people see guys like him in muay thai and because he rarely throws a punch in muay thai they think he has shitty hands.

Wait I'm confused....you're not talking about Canelo are you? I thought Superbank never made it past the asian qualifiers for the olympics? When did he fight anyone close to that calibre?

They have to fight every week to feed there families so they have a gentleman a rule most of the time, that's why leg kicking is less utilised then body kicks
No they don't stop posting rubbish

Idk from what i've heard if a fighter throws a leg kick in thailand they wake up with a horse head soaked in cat piss in their bed the next morning.

Think he meant Lazaro Alvarez. From what I remember it was a pretty competitive fight, even thought lost all the rounds. Superbank was somewhat close to making the Olympics and could hang with top amateurs, but not quite get over.

lmao yeah

Their boxing is still shit and as someone mentioned the rhythm of the fight is slow in the first two rounds due to gambling.

Not to mention most of these guys Train when they're like 5 so they're evenly skilled/matched from the get go.
Just because you don't see many Thai's throw punches doesn't mean they're bad at boxing. Also there is a difference between boxing within Kickboxing/MuayThai and just boxing alone. A lot of Thai's find it more comfortable to spam kicks with a single punch here and there instead of throwing loads of punch combos.

They only spam against foreigners that aren't as good at handling kicks. Everything is very calculated against other thais

When I say spam I meant just use more kicks than punches

1st round feel out round for gamblers. Round 2,3,4 is the real fight. Round 5 is a walk if it is a decisive match. No point knocking out a fellow thai fighting to make ends meet. Plus, MT scoring is different from other fight sports.

Ok smart guy, guys fight for peanuts and have to feed there families.yiu don't see guys chasing first round Ko"s
Yeeessss the poster is obviously posting about stadium fights, there is a minimum 21 day rest rule there,30 days if you get koed so their not fighting once a week, once a month more likely if lucky! There is no unwritten rule between them that they don't throw low kicks or anything else, they fight to win as that means they get more money the next fight. Seksan got paid 200,000 baht last week, his opponent 170,000, you could feed his and my family for well over a month on either of those purses, there are 15 year olds earning more to fight there than a lot of office workers earn a month!
So pretty much everything you posted was an internet myth!

What fights have had the biggest purse, side bets and gambler tips/bonuses lately?

He runs a gym in thailand so he probably knows one thing or two :p

How much of that purse is strictly net? In thailand it will be shared between camp owner, trainers, corner etc.

Depends on the gym, usually they get a minimum of 50% some of the bigger gambling gyms will give the boxer the whole purse with added bonuses if win

Part of why we don't see as many punches as we do in Western KB, MMA, or even Western Thai is cultural and points. They don't see the punch as important so it's not worth as many points as a kick. Here in America I notice in MMA it's more fist based. Boxing has been a huge part of our culture with many well known people doing it and it's been engraved into our slang and pop culture. Teddy Roosevelt, former president for one, boxed. Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali are huge in pop culture. And for slang "throwing in the towel" or "throwing my hat in the ring" are boxing slang from way back.
