Why do so many Jackson camp fighters lack 1 punch KO power?

Guys like GSP and Jones are the most explosive and strongest in their divisions. It would seem like they should have really good punching power but they don't. GSP showed some against Bisping. At the same time, though, what they're teaching works; their guys win fights and they win the standup too. Jones outstrikes everyone and GSP has some of the best striking stats in the history of the sport.

What are they doing differently?

Jackson/Wink fighters are point strikers, meaning on the feet they don't look for the KO, but instead they look to outpoint you on the judges scorecards.

Kinda like what Mayweather does.

They aren't looking to land that knockout punch?
GSP talked about for years how he wanted to develop a 1 punch right hand. He started throwing overhand rights at one point instead of crosses, like Josh Koscheck used to do. He still never had the power despite having incredible physical attributes for it.

gsp is a jab based fighter who never puts 100 percent behind his shots to stay defensive jones im not so sure maybe he give up some power to stay unpredictable

They don't just go out there and throw bombs which leaves you vulnerable to counter strikes. They have a more planned attack which is a sign of good coaching and game planning...

SImple.
They teach them to abide by the game plan, and the game plan is almost never to KO someone.
SO they go there prepared to impose their game and win.

heck, the reason these guys are good is exactly because they perform the game plan and do not deviate from it.
it is also the reason GSP gets so much hate. He doesn't go for the kill. and that's because it is not in the game plan, and he is way too set into following the gameplan to deviate from it.

i would still say both have enough power to command their opponents respect i remember condit said ill walk through gsp punches and get the ko gsp landed a stiff jab and condits face looked as if it said hey this isnt suppose to happen

Greg doesn't pray and make offerings to the Just Bleed Gods.

Well I guess he didn't develop it then. Also I think he might be a Left-handed orthodox fighter, which might explain the sweet jab.

One-punch KO power is more something you're born with than something you develop. You can train technique to increase your punching power, but for the most part you either have it or you don't.

Because most of them have bad fundamentals. They can't box.

As for Jones, I haven't been all that impressed with his boxing. His body type, and this is a huge generalization, would favour shots thrown down the pipe. Generally speaking longer fighters generate more power that way, wheres stocky fighters get more damage out of wide shots like hooks. I'm not sure how much of that he does as I haven't watched him for a long ass time. He has some great elbows though.

Edit: Did you change the thread title?

You never know it's a mystery.
Theres skinny guys with legit 1 punch ko power, and theres guys like GSP who cant.

We all know power comes from mass, speed and leverage but it just seems that some guys have it, some dont.

I blame it on the altitude. Too much wind resistance at sea level.

Condit (hardy)

Diego(joe riggs, also a knee aswell)

Melvin g.(everyone)

Dodson(everyone)
