Why do people think Jacare walks through Weidman...?

This is the furthest thing from an easy fight for either guy, but the claim that Jacare just steamrolls him is laughable. People like to bring up Weidman’s 3 loss skid, but conveniently forget the context. Jacare has also lost to 2 of those 3 guys. But from a fight analysis perspective:

- Weidman has equal or better standup than Jacare
- Weidman has the wrestling to nullify Jacare’s grappling
- Weidman is also the furthest thing from a slouch on the ground, being a blackbelt and product of Danaher and Serra
- Neither guys gas tank is amazing, though Jacare may have a slight edge here

This fight is honestly a tossup, people need to stop looking at it from a Weidman-hater standpoint and be realistic. I think it finally happens this summer sometime too

Jacare beat Romero, only lost to Whittaker, regardless of what the judges saw.

He would be the favourite, but I didn´t see anybody saying he´d "walk through" him. If anything, people have been saying Jacare is done.

Romero and Rockhold obliterated Weidman. Jacare lost to them in fights which could of gone either way on the cards. FYI, Jacare also has a loss to Mousasi too.

That said, it's a 50/50 fight if Weidman can recover his 2012-14 form.

I kinda have this impression too.

Isn't Weidman a bit taller and lankier? I think Weidman is a marginally better striker and Jacare probably has a better submission game. Nothing that tilts the balance either way IMO.

Weidman and Rockhold have 6'5 reach. Weidman probably has better punching and chin.

Which is bad for Jacare because he only looked good countering Rockhold with punches & being barely equal in grappling.

Jacare vs Rockhold could be fight of the decade with the Pat Militech commentary.

Weidman was unlucky against Rockhold. He was beating Yoel until that juice head exploded with a juice filled knee. He was robbed by moose.

Weidman is still in the top 3 with Rockhold and Whittaker. There is a big gap after those three.

Weidman is one of the best all round fighters in the UFC.

Their grappling probably neutralizes each others, so it will likely be mostly a stand up fight.

I think Jacare has better striking (but it's close), definitely more power, and a better gas tank.

I'd expect a close first, and for Jacare to take over from there with a UD or late stoppage.

If the Jacare who whooped Moose shows up, Chris is in trouble.
