I love spicy food but it honestly makes no sense. It's painful to eat spicy food. Is there a evolutionary reason? This never made sense to me.

It's because they like the Johnny Cash song Ring of Fire, which is what you get a few hours after eating that type of food

I like Indian food

Because spicy and mildly discomforting is better than bland.

I think there's a neurological reason...probably endorphins or something...

Noting tells me I'm alive more then a burning and itchy butthole.

Maybe some people like making those spicy food fuck faces in public?

It makes hair nappier

Some spices that are hot also have other good flavors associated with them IMO, as long as it isn't so flaming hot that all you taste is the burning.

It just tastes good bruh.

I never understood the appeal of sour candies tho. Why do that to yourself? It’s unpleasant

Things like roasted habaneros have excellent, smokey flavor, and while they do take some acclimating to, they're delicious. I have probably twenty hot sauces in my fridge right now - all of them habanero or ghost chili, and most of them brutal. The most common application is for cooking (dutch ovens or sauces or slow roasts in a crock pot). For actual dipping I'll mess around with a few of them, but a good number are too absurd to be consuming in volume.

To you it may equal pain, but to me it equals flavor. But it can be a fine line. Those who don't know what they're doing can create an imbalance, so that the flavour is trumped by the scoville level. For example, when you add chili seeds to a dish, you are adding pure heat. There is no flavour there. So that creates an imbalance. When you remove the seeds and just add the chili flesh, you get that natural chili flavour, of which heat is a part of.

But I get where you're coming from. I used to be like that. All I can say is, now I'm not. Heat equals flavour to me now much more often than not....but sure, sometimes it can be too much.

Gotta add a little kick to anything im eating

It's more efficient. You get to experience the burning sensation twice.

If you eat something sweet, you only experience the sweetness once.

Because it's pretty basic commodity for most 3rd world countries where you have to spice up meat that has gone bad and a right of passage(macho bs)for the rest of the world.
