perhaps but werdum/miocic was far more of a flukey outcome since it happened so much sooner. In a way Cody's loss is worse because the fight went long enough to be considered "official" without being able to say it was a fluke and/or lucky (like with werdum/miocic), not to mention you could argue that Cody hit TJ with everything he had and still lost, which is, again, worse than a lucky punch type of win

Should Cain have gotten an Immediate rematch? Should have Luke Rockhold got an immediate rematch against Bisping. Should TJ have gotten and Immediate rematch against the split decision against Cruz. Should Weidman have gotten and immediate rematch against Rockhold?

I get what your saying but don't forget TJ was pretty much saved by the bell, had that round gone 10sec longer chances are Cody would still be champ.

Cody AT LEAST was undefeated before being ko'd by tj. He also beat the inarguable bw goat in Dominic cruz to win the title. he had a somewhat competitive fight with tj before losing in the second round.
but that is absolutely all that i can give him. It should be TJ vs Rivera for sure. Garbrandt should be fighting morales
honestly Werdum's "I'll fight cain, but not stipe" attitude would make me want to keep him as far away from a belt as I could if I were match maker.

He did remember? and maybe he should have. At the time it made the most sense. yoel was suspended (something about a tainted supplement) and jacare was injured. Weidman got injured, and bisping replaced.

It seems like rematches for title fights have more to do with politics and timing than they do actually deserving it. I believe that fighters like JJ, or anyone who has defended their belt multiple times deserve a rematch if they lose their belt - no matter how they lose. As far as Cody/TJ goes, I don't think Cody deserves an immediate rematch based on merit, but there are other factors at work to determine why he gets a rematch IMO.

I hate seeing one guy fight over and over for the spot.. If you lose you should atleast fight one fight before you get to fight again...
If not then you just hold up the division.. If i'm number 2 and your number 1 and you lose.. Now you atleast got to give me a shot..

because there was already a history of bad blood between Cody and TJ. The back story to their beef translates into a more marketable event and more genuine mainstream interest.
