Why didn't Pride fans ever claim Anderson?

I think we all remember the era of "Pride is still alive." Back in those days every time a Pride fighter like Wandy, Shogun, Fedor, or Big Nog got a decent win the boards were filled with those threads. Hell we even occasionally get them.

But I noticed something odd. Pride fans never claimed Anderson, in fact, they insulted him (though they mostly ignored him). I've seen more then a handful of Pride fans say "Anderson wasn't that good in Pride" and make some ridiculous argument along the lines of "Anderson lost to Ryo Chonan therefore he couldn't hack it in Pride."

These Pride fans had the opportunity to claim "Pride is still alive" up until 2013 but never even for a microsecond thought of saying it. It's as if it never even formed in their minds. They were allergic to the thought.

I think it's obvious why Pride fans REALLY never claimed Anderson.

Anderson was the top of the UFC and Pride fans needed to shit on him to try and claim it was superior. "Anderson couldn't cut it in Pride" was their best argument. Once they'd done that they couldn't really try to claim him as their own

Anderson fought better in cages. He blossomed in the UFC IMO

The thing is they could have easily claimed him, they didn't for no real reason. There's certain fighters they don't claim if you get my drift.

It's just because I'm incredibly racist tbh

He did pretty bad in Pride.

But we always claimed him.

The guy that got cut from Pride, came over and dominated the UFC.

Anderson from PRIDE is not the Anderson from UFC, he didn`t have a good run in PRIDE but still had some good wins, the Newton KO was one of the most brutal flying knees i ever seen.

Mostly because Anderson was pretty shitty in Pride.

So what's your theory why we never "claimed" him as you say? (we did actually and even said that the UFC sucked because they were getting steamrolled by Anderson, who was a journeyman in Pride at best)

This

They did. You might not of been around but there was a TON of " lol Anderson couldn't cut it in pride and got subbed by Takaske and Ryo Chonan but is champ of the UFC so Pride > UFC. "

Its "Pride never die", not Pride is still alive

But he was a Pride fighter, he just didn't do too well there, different rule set, different environment, and although he had great skills, his 'form' wasn't as good through those years

But rightly or wrongly people have always claimed him as being from Pride, as it was his first major org

I saw tons of people try to claim him, but he did not have very many fights in Pride and was not nearly as successful as he was in the UFC.

I think people were too busy on the defensive about Cro Cop and Wanderlei to really mount an offense about Anderson.

Pride have claimed Wanderlei Silva, Cage Rage have claimed Anderson Silva.

Because we want to leave the chonan fight in the past
