You didn't watch The Professional to see Leon have a buddy/buddy with relationship with some girl he met on the streets.

Didn't you watch it because of Gary Oldman?
Why?
Because without that character the movie would be BORING!

Just think about how sweet the spinoff would be as a TV series based off that Lieutenant or Detective losing his shit every week, and being unable to get along with his coworkers/peers.
