Why didn't Conor take the Marshawn Lynch route?

Was thinking about this today, if McGregor's big gripe was that he didn't want to do media, all the interviews, press conferences, etc. Wouldn't a better way of rebelling be doing what Marshawn did and simply showing up and saying nothing of substance as sort of a silent protest?

"I'm just here so I don't get pulled."

I can already see gold with those awkward media scrums and Bozo sweating on the podium at the press conferences.

That would have been awesome and a complete 180 from his previous media work.

Of course, he'd still have to show up and it would still cut into his training time.

That would be hilarious

Good call. That would have been damn funny.

Then he would have had to face Nate Diaz.

Would have been the best possible thing he could have done.

Man, DFW would be steamed about that. I can see that pained look of severe constipation while passing a large gall stone.

He'd still have to make all the appearances and follow the crazy schedule...I thought that was his main gripe, no distractions, 100% focused on training, right?

Conor went to fucking iceland to train. He is as far away as fucking possible from media and nate because he doesnt want to face any of it.

Conors a fucking guppy.

People dont watch Marshawn because of his false personae, they watch for his talent. McGregor attracted huge fan base with that persona, now its come back to bite him in the ass. He knew this day was coming so he made maximum bank before his real personality was exposed. You can tell a part of him hated it - but that was the trade off.

You don't think anyone could have liked him because of his 7 t/ko wins in the ufc?

Would still waste as much of his time, the whole issue is he doesnt want to take the time to attend all these things. Attending and not tlaking kinda defeats the purpose.

Probably a big part of it. Conor was embarrassed by Nate in the press conferences before Nate beat him. Imagine how badly he would look trying to run his game after getting smacked around. Image would take a big hit and Conor knows it

I thought you meant announcing his retirement with a single photo and retiring for real like a man.

He is going to fight the fucker... I can't imagine he is scared to talk alongside him at a presser?
He had to have known if he broke his contract he wasnt gonna fight Diaz, so maybe he doesnt wanna fight him either.
