Why Did Poirier Looks So Lost Against Khabib?

Khabib was forced to hip flop due to the pressure from the guillotine. Had Dustin transitioned into an anaconda at that point it would have been night night for the Eagle.

Conversely, Dustin could have pulled full guard rather than just throw his left leg over and Khabib would have been unable to hip flop and would have succumbed to the guillotine.

You can just be a fanboy with your head in the sand or you can attempt to learn something and grow in your knowledge of the game. The choice is up to you.

Nice BJJ BS.

I watched the Gracie video explaining this sequence too, smart ass.

If he had do that , so that would happened, so khabib was in trouble.

Reality is, Khabib stayed calm all the time, Mendez and Abdulmanap that you can see all the sequence, stayed calm all the time, and everybody saw why actually.
Now take your fantasy "if and what" and your condescendant ass away, only thing I learned from you tonight is that you are a moron.

I don't think gatti ever quit though...Im pretty sure the ref stopped it...I forget...but gatti never went down or quit...

Mcgirt (trainer) pulled him bro

He was staggering back to the corner after the 6th

Was an awesome beat down

Floyd made a world champ look an absolute bum that night

Conor in the third round had probably the most fouls in ufc history. Poirier had nothing for Khabib but if he cheated as much as Conor he would've definitely done as good as him.

Never saw this but I will google it.

You're a delusional fanboy. Plain and simple. There are tons of you kids on Sherdog though your favorite fighters are different. It's not enough that your guy wins. A delusional fanboy needs to pretend that the win was absolutely effortless and that their guy was never in any danger at any time. Whatever.

Khabib made a positional mistake and got caught in a deep guillotine he should have avoided. Had Poirier made one of two possible adjustments it's "and new". MMA at the very highest level is always a game of inches. This is reality.

In hindsight Conor looked pretty good compared to other guys imo.

it’s because khabib was supposed to be beat on the feet and he got in the pocket with one of the best strikers in LW (Poirer) and khabib channeled his inner Anderson Silva
Lol Conor got dominated and punched in his shit talking mouth despite the ref allowing him to cheat.

Gatti was no doubt tough, but everyone knew he was gonna get destroyed by floyd. That was a mismatch if there ever was one.
Pretty much.
I wish Floyd was a few years younger so we could see him square up against Lomachenko.

That wasn't a prime DLH or Pacman, it was Gatti chill out. It's like being amazed at how easily prime GSP would be Nate Diaz smh.

Doesn't matter, it was an ex champ that couldn't lay a glove on him

Floyd sr and roger both thought that was Floyds best night, as do I

His hand issues got worse In his 30's

Gatti, Corrales and Canelo were his best performances imo

This. Poirier just didn't have anything for Habib

Actually Dustin was the only fighter who had Khabib worried and his father and Khabib said the same

Dustin tagged him really good. Had it not been for outstanding defence of Khabib and his illusive (sometimes misinterpreted as awkward) standup, Dustin would have gone for the finish

Dustin also had him in a tight choke. Khabib again said that.

Conor may have produced a good defence here and there but Dustin had Khabib the most worried

Bullshit, Conor did most of his cheating in the third round.

Yeah, Conors cheating also prevented Khabib from advancing further.

Especially glove hooking, illigal knee during Kimora and short grabbing while in clinch

Nah I take it back, Conor is a POS and survived only because of cheating and somewhat of a good defence

To answer the thread starter- Khabib said during interview with Okamoto-I think after the first round with me, they dont believe.....

Almost every opponent after the first round with Khabib says the same thing :' fffffuuuuuhhhhhhck"

Dustin literally said it " I cant get him to fuck off me". Stood there bleeding and bending saying "What the fuck can I do"?

Khabib is goat. If Tony beats him, Tony is a fucking super GOAT

Dustin is good but one of the most overrated fighters of all time.

His footwork was/is so overrated, not even Lomachenkos footwork is that overrated.

Tony Ferguson has to watch out for the black lines and the punch-takedown combo.

Iaquinta survived all 5 rounds with Khabib. Iaquinta did better than Conor.

Khabib is just the perfect storm, he's a nightmare for anyone at LW.

It's his style, his elite grappling skills and unrelenting pressure. Almost any opponent faced with that combination gets overwhelmed. You have to either be very mentally tough to get past it or have a higher skill level, which i don't see anyone at LW having.

Iaquinta did really well, he didn't get overwhelmed or wilt under the pressure. Even though he lost very decisively he held his own. I think Tony will be something similar, and he's closer to khabib's skill level. But that still probably won't be enough.

Khabib landed the harder more telling shots that backed Conor up. Most people only give him the round because he did better than in round 2, not because he actually won the round all things considered, hell you got guys like Brett Okamoto giving Conor round 1 so...
In the 3rd round? I rewatched the fight a couple days ago, 3rd round didn't seem that way. Every other round he got it bad

Bullshit, Conor did most of his cheating in the third round.
Idgaf. He won the 3rd. Feel free to waste your time arguing but he won the 3rd round. Go rewatch the fight like I did a few days ago. Khabib smashed him the rest....

We frequently talk about Conor looking terrible but Poirier had no answers whatsoever for Khabib anywhere. His striking was looking sloppy by two minutes in and he had nothing for the takedowns and ground control. Poor performance from a fighter who has shown more in the past.

Let's see, he rocked khabib, clipped and screwed up by jumping in, he almost had the guillotine cinched in amd you are saying that he "looked lost"? He almost finished him twice and had he, you would be talking about how this was a walk in the park for Porier.

Shertards, so fickle.
