Why Conor McGregor beats Jose Aldo again.

Good breakdown buddeh, I agree.

I never bet against Aldo unless it's against Conor but either way Goatee Aldo vs the God 2 should be a good one.

Aldo will be inefficient with his energy. He wont be used to the bigger man taking his power. He'll struggle with the height and reach. Oh yeah. He'll hit too much arms. Deez tings appen!

Aldo has the edge everywhere except the stand up. Aldo everyone he has been on on top of he has sliced though their guard like butter. He has mounted everyone he has been on the ground with. It would be retarded to not think that Aldo doesn't go for the takedown.
Yet he only has one sub in 03 over some can??

Conor swept diaz, a legit gracie bjj black belt bigger than aldo.

Just wanted to give some thoughts and footage as to why I see this fight being in the favor of Conor McGregor again. A lot of hype for the rematch, and I wanted to articulate my thoughts and opinions the best I can.

Folks make the claim that Aldo's leg kick game will prove a problem for Conor in the rematch. People need understand that the fact Aldo is orthodox will make it more difficult to land very good kicks on Conor's lead leg because of the angle(s). Some must really think that Conor is literally going to stand right in front of him, but in reality, Conor will likely have an outside angle, further to Aldo's left so he will have to step a lot deeper to land a good leg kick, by that just gives Conor a lot more time to react, either to move away, check it or counter. Conor can check kicks. There are many gifs about Conor injuring one of his opponents with a check and also we've seen how he hurt Holloway with a check in the first round, one of the first kicks that Holloway threw he hurt him with a check. Also, Aldo has thrown a lot less leg kicks than he has in the past and even admitted to the fact of not wanting to commit to them against McGregor.

Some also say Aldo will chop him down because Poirier landed some kicks of his own, but again, they fail to realize that Poirier is a southpaw, which makes it easier to land kicks on the lead leg.

UFC Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has a solid take.

Conor is a long-rangey southpaw who utilizes his length and general awareness of his range phenomenally well. If Aldo comes in his kicks recklessly, he will pay. Because of how McGregor will be able to control that distance, should Aldo get hasty and try to throw them from the outside, McGregor's footwork from his stance will nullify a real shot to get a clean hit on that lead leg without suffering consequence. With his Karate stance, he baits people into that shot with how is stance's angle is, lined up to bait the low kick. Conor can twitch that lead leg up with phenomenal timing and get a solid check in. Here are some instances from the Holloway fight:

As for leg kicks, the kick will also be easier to check. It is much easier to turn your knee in rather than out. One more important note, the advantage of the southpaw against the orthodox fighter is the liver kick; its open to Mcgregor (with the power leg) but not to Aldo.

Not to say Aldo's head movement isn't good, but it's not nearly as good as most think it is. Most think because he stood in one spot and just moved his head around like crazy in the Hominick fight (when Hominick wasn't even throwing punches at him, by the way) means his head movement is fucking incredible, lol. His head movement is so great that he got tagged by Mendes over and over and over and got wobbled/rocked quite a few times, was dropped early by a left hook in the first round. McGregor obviously finished him, and Edgar tagged him a few times as well.

People think moving your head like a pidgeon means you've mastered angles. Not always the case.

Look what happens here, Aldo gets careless with his hands down after loading up a poorly chosen uppercut. Hands down! McGregor will knock his head off again if he does against him.

The fact that Aldo is orthodox makes it better for Conor because he will have an easier time controlling his lead hand. Conor does his best against orthodox fighters. He controls their lead hand, takes away their jab and forces them to use their right, which makes Conor more effective with his counters. He's so damn good at it and has worked wonders for him throughout his career. If he can take away Aldo's lead hand, it's going to be fucking huge.

In regards to the Southpaw vs orthodox boxing range when you have orthodox and southpaw opponents facing each other, their guard (respective positioning) is open. This means the jab will be hard to hand, but the power hand will also be there for both. Aldo's is quite sloppy, he tends to do what I like to call "dangling" out his power rear hand. Conor's power hand is a lot more crisp and technically sound. For Conor, his ability to trap and catch the jab with his handfighting will cut off Aldo's avenue for starting a lot of his combos and his basic setup.

Aldo, like almost every single other fighter from Nova Uniao almost always overextend/go off-balance when they throw a 1-2, or just the straight right.

The fact Aldo does this so often makes it very interesting to me because we both know how damn good Conor is with the counter left. If he overextends and goes off-balance likes this against McGregor, he is going to get tagged often by the counter left.

This is definitely, most illustrated in a couple spots:

Aldo gets even sloppier with his Jab if he's being pressured. Look at this left, that lets Mendes shoot in easily.

Conor will make him pay if he's that careless. Like he did the first time. The pruludes to the Conor KO could be seen in this Hominick GIF as well.

He got tagged by Edgar a few times in the rematch as well.

Conor's crosses and counters have always been on point.

Don't be so blinded by the confidence of McGregor to not see these holes that Aldo has. Aldo has shown a great defense in his past reign and even his recent fight against Edgar. He is not from a perfect fighter, nor is Conor. Regardless, I think the result will be similar, if not so quick. Reality will cold and ruthless.

And Still...

Didn't read all that nuthugging bullshit.... Have a pleasant evening.

Appreciate the effort Jin. But the majority of it seems rehashed from previous discussions. Personally, I'll wait until the rematch is actually booked before I dive into any sort of breakdown. Several of us, including Dana White, have our doubts Conor will return to 145.

That's a shame. I put in some good effort. I would wish you a great evening, but you didn't read the post.

Right, Dana White is the source of truth in the world.

Screenshot_59.png Giving us a breakdown where he picks Conor to win, not bias at all lol. Can we get the opinion of a guy uh uh idk maybe without a fucking Conor avatar lol.

People accuse me of not being expansive enough in my opinions. I wanted to give such people a chance to read into the isnsight and perhaps see some of the things I do in my regards to this fight.
You can't win when you're a Conor fan here. Even with the mods it seems.

Very good work @Jin Akutsu

I did think that myself re: dropping his hands and being tagged in the Edgar fight at 200. He won't be able to take those clean whacks from McG.

Should be a great fight regardless and I can't wait. We'll see :D

Feel free to criticize the content. What did I type out that wasn't grounded in reality?
I didnt read cause your extremely bias. You should stick to giving breakdowns on fighters your not in love with or bias about.

Thats your loss Renjo.

Lots of Aldo fans gave some thoughts on the content. You should give it a shot.

Why don't you bring up Aldo's TDs against Hominick and KZ?

Why don't you bring up Aldo's TDs against Hominick and KZ?
I don't see him utilizing many takedowns. If he does, it would be an interesting and more winnable fight for Aldo.

This fight was broken down and analyzed ad nauseum before the first fight. I read so many breakdowns. All for a 13-second fight.

The main points of those breakdowns still apply. On the surface, it's still the same style matchup that it appeared to be before the first fight. Most of the questions we had last year, we still have. Now we just have to try and guess how the first fight will affect both fighters in a potential rematch.
