why arent there more standing elbows

they have them in muy thai all of the time. they are obviously efficient yet i rarely see them in mma.

Mark Hunt landed a couple of good ones against Big foot 1.
 
I think guys forgot about them, because they got too many elbow strikes to the head - causing them to forget.
 
seems like an easy thing to at least try to learn.
I think its more a case that its not trained enough for fighters to instinctively throw them. I'm a big fan of them myself and find myself yelling at the tv everytime guys are in the clinch and are wide open for it. ELBOW MUTHAFUCKA!!!!
 
They need those Thailand instructors

I couldnt agree more. Fighters even when they train them they dont use them while sparring so they forgot to use them in fight too.

He is unorthodox but not very good... His step in short elbow is probably his best tool when striking.

Also standing MT elbows are very short and hard to land outside of clinch range that's why we don't see them often.
