Why aren't Superman punches used as much these days?

Are they hard to execute effectively?
I'm sure years ago we saw more fighters throwing these type of punches. Bisping and GSP used them quite a lot.
In last weekend's Fight Night 188, there was one fighter, i can't recall his name, i THINK it was Barnett, who threw a number of them. Apart from him i don't remember seeing many fighters using this technique of late.

because it's an ineffective and inefficient technique

It’s because you have to land and sell the other kick to set it up, It’s rarely landed to cause a knock out.

This

There's a reason why no good boxer uses it

Yes because it’s illegal in boxing.

Super man punches definitely still has a place in MMA imo. Not as much to KO as to just mix things up, especially with low kicks. Supeman punches can contribute to making it harder for your opponent to read you, your distance and timing

I'd argue it's never been a common technique. A few fighters would mix them in somewhat regularly (GSP stands out as you mentioned), but maybe those few fighters have just moved on at this time.

nowhere near as popular as it would have seemed. A couple of people were very effective using it. A lot of others got caught on the way in once they had gotten timed and were unable to hide it. Those that can, are good enough to cover the distance grounded as well.

Did you see Huggi Bear blow his wad on superman punches on the weekend ?
