Why are the Nordic countries so happy?

I think that's a misguided opinion, from what I understand immigrants use 39% fewer welfare services than native Americans and pay more taxes.

The picture is similar here in the UK, immigrants out more in than they take out overall than natives.

It's lazy and just counterfactual to blame mismanagement upon immigrants.
I don't think you understand the actual issue.

Are you aware of the Labor movement of the 20th century in the united states?

Basically, people started the century working like 12 hour days in really terrible working conditions and it was through the organizations of labor unions and strikes that things eventually improved but the tactic the Big wigs used to squash labor was to just use immigrants as scabs to undermine their strikes.

The big wigs would use a bunch of immigrants that spoke a different language as scabs so the preexisting labor force would hate the scabs and by extension their was racism mixed in. It's very lazy and shortsighted to just frame that as pure racism though.

When you have an immigrant labor force that undermines your value it's natural to be upset about the loss of your value and ability to provide. It's not just immigrants it's also outsourcing to overseas production facilities, or sweat shops. All of a sudden the people that used to have jobs are competing with people that will work for a fraction of what they used to and their daughters become sex workers to pay for college debts. Then if they dare speak openly about how they are upset they are accused of being a racist.

If you bring up how supply and demand works in regards of competing with foreign labor you're immediately falsely equivocated with racism so it becomes a taboo subject to even address what so ever. What does that lead to? People feeling oppressed and often turning to nationalist groups that are often hate fueled.

That's where things are at now. Imagine 60 years from now when climate change is starting to really kick in and their are ten's of millions of displaced refugees at any given moment.

Can you imagine having to compete with your pay being given to a group of 5 guys that produce 600% of your labor that outbid you on every contract at a rate of 50% so now you have to drop your prices to half your current rate to be able to find any work at all and then if you publicly mention it an army of trans people will blow up your social media in an attempt to blackball you from being able to get any work what so ever?

I don't know where all these happy Canadians are hiding. Everyone I interact with is seemingly miserable with our joke of a Gov't and all that comes with it
maybe you interact with too many miserable fucks

I made up heard they listen to a lot of Korn and Limp Bizkit up there.

wow, this thread blew up. i've been to sweden and denmark, and it was an overall positive experience. though even back then, i sensed some racism because i think some people there thought i was muslim from somewhere in the middle-east.

i'm hispanic, so i think that's why they thought that. this was 03', and it's pretty obvious that native scandinavians don't have the greatest relationship with muslims. lack of wanting to integrate is a huge factor why. once they heard me speak, and realized i was american, it was a complete 180 reaction from many of them.

How exactly did Trudeau screw you over?

I work Oil and Gas would be number 1 but the list is really quite extensive. The company I worked for for the last 5 years pulled out of Canada due to his extreme tax hikes despite the countless tax breaks he's given Ont/Que

The muslims are like 1% of the population in Denmark and wanted to ban pork in school lunches.

Oh yeah, there's always tension between the people already established somewhere and the biggest group of immigrants and or their neighboring countries. Is normal.

If you go in central America you'll hear people rant and rave how racist Americans are but as soon as they start talking about the country next door you'll realize they are just as bad if not worst.

'You see us here we are civilized but those mother fuckers over there are fucking savages.'

The move away from oil and gas was inevitable, as you can also see in the greater macro economy the shift to electric, solar, etc.

Most of them don't own shit compared to Americans, though. A lot of them ride bicycles and shit, dont even have cars, can't afford to buy big houses like we do here. 1/3 of the houses here have pools. I doubt 1% of their population even own pools. Most of them live in tiny ass studio apartments.

You see how more things doesn't correlate with being happy? ; )
