Why are some people fans of the money fighters make instead of just being fans of fights?

Whenever one of the over hyped fighters lose I notice a lot of fans switch gears to talking about how big of a "superstar" Rhonda is or how much money Conor makes. These people became stars because of payed UFC advertising and partnerships. In Conors case more than Rhonda(say what you want about competition but she dominated every girl put in front of her for a long time. That's all you can ask). All Conor does is stuff boxers have been doing forever. Come in with some pre-written ridiculous outlandish statements. Why don't people support(or doesn't ufc push) the people that are best at fighting?

Because PRIZE FIGHTING is about the PRIZE ($$$$) and about the FIGHTING.

Also drama and popcorn are as much a part of our DNA as fighting is. The best selling fighters typically have the most interesting personality or create the most drama. We can't help but pay attention to them, it's basic human nature. If you don't get it then it's like those weirdos who don't find pleasure in sex, there's something wrong with you and you need to seek professional help.

Those fighters are making the most money because they're the fighters people want to see. That's how the cycle starts.

Because many people, even many hardcore fans, eat up the heavily marketed fighters that the UFC constantly promotes as opposed to the more skilled and less advertised alternative.

But I don't think they have more interesting personalities than anyone else. I think people say that because UFC says they're interesting.

Some people forget that when the ufc makes a decision they don't like, it's not because Dana wants to piss off the fans. Some things are simply business decisions. There's nothing wrong with being a fan and still remembering, and being able to see, the business side of things for what it is.

I wish there was an organization that just wants to objectively find the best fighters. Apparently my interests are different.

I think you already know the answer. It's not just about the fights. It's about ego, money, story etc. it's a sport about life in general as much as it is just a sport.

Because they're the new breed of know it all pussy armchair economist fans.

Reminds me of Conor fans. Hey retards, just because he has all that money doesn't mean you do too. His money isn't your money. His rented cars aren't your cars. You are not Conor, he doesn't care about you.

Yeah Conor has no skill whatsoever.

Just talks a lot.

STFU

Because hardcore fans have such a weird fascination with the business side of things that it gets to a point where it's almost as if they're living vicariously through the promoters themselves and becoming excited over a fight or a fighter if said fight or said fighter is raking in a lot of money. Wrestling fans are very guilty of this shit too, and it's fucking annoying.

Fuck that dude.

Entertainment has to be part of the equation. I don't care about bullshit hype promos but fight styles matter.

I wouldn't even bother with an organization filled with Askren's and Fitches.

Because Dana White is a meanie

I'm sure this point will be touched upon heavily, but fuck it.

Conor is highly skilled. He's the FW Champ. He starched the FW GOAT in 13 seconds along with beating Mendes, Holloway, and Poirier. All acts that evidence skill. His fanbase is a combination of people that appreciate that aforementioned skill plus his entertaining personality.

Serious fans also like McGregor, and have since he dragon punched Brimage and was the recipient of zero hype.
