Why are Mushrooms and Marijuana illegal?

In the 60's they were both free to use and all around, people started protesting against unessasary wars and they started asking questions, obviously what the powers at be DONT want, Im not saying its all black and white but I do belive this to be the case.
 
Same reason heroin and coke are illegal, we don't want you having any fun.
 
Because Nixon wanted to throw black people and hippies in jail.

Weed has been lobbyied against since the 40s-50s, and we can blame that cotton mogul whom name I can't remember. Shrooms though? I can handle it, not sure if everyone can handle it. Had a friend who spazzed out on it and never became himself after that, and it was at least 15 years ago. Both are fun, that's my 2 cents on that matter
 
People in power love telling other people what they can or can't do.

Can you define "never became himself again"?

I have never taken a psychedelic but from what I hear you can have a good trip or a bad one, introducing you to some inner demons you may have and deal with them.

Hell even weed can make people paranoid and help them come to grips with certain things.

80% of taxes going to military,
militarizing police, environmental
Loop holes & the electoral
college are some of the biggest
issues in this country imo & theyre
all linked somehow

Every person I know who fucked
with hallucinogens. Each of those
people started with a friend or a
group of friends. Each person has
told me a story about how at least
one of the original space cadets
in their group had lost it.

I have a friend who went full syd
Barret on us too. Haven't heard
from him in years & the last few
times I did see him, he was clearly
beginning his descent into schizophrenia

Don't get me wrong.. they can be
fun. But don't make any allusions
about their dangers. They are VERY
strong drugs

There was a kid I grew up with that "change" due to taking psychedelics, but it wasn't because of one bad trip. I grew up and partook in the local psychedelic scene and no one was ever complete fucked permanently from one bad trip.

Funny story about the kid who is now fried from tripping, he was out in Washington state. He broke into some woman's home who was out of town. He lived in her house for days just squatting, eating her food, etc. She came home to him making breakfast. He offered her up a plate lulz.

This same kid posts videos on the book face, like 5 - 10 minutes long, of him holding and playing with bunnies, grinning and not saying a word. Bizarre.
 
I had always heard that weed was criminalized in order to ensure that hemp was never a threat to the timber industry as the main product used for paper manufacturing as it would be much cheaper.

Weed because hemp was a threat to the new decordicator method of harvesting cotton. Mushrooms because they were synonymous with some pretty destabilising counter culture imo.

He was a smart kid, did well in school, and was (and still is) a good guy. We had a nice trip on new years eve 2000, and everything was good. When I woke up the next morning, my parents told me that they got a phone call from his parents saying that when he came home he was to afraid to go to bed by himself, and had to sleep in their bed. So I told them what we did, and thus began the worst the worst period of my life. The rest of us were ok, but he couldn't handle it (and had hardcore christian parents as well). he looked ok last time I saw him
 
If everyone in America was smoking weed where would the unemployed police officers and Soldiers work?
 
No idea. I've thought about growing my own mushrooms recently though. So I've been looking into doing that. I've taken mushrooms like twice got them from the back of my neighborhood from these cows that were back there.
