My favorite uncle is gay, my stepdaughter from my first marriage is gay & my wife was bi. So, I've been around a lot of LGBTQ people in my life & have several gay friends. And they run the gamut from really good looking to very average looking. And just as each individual has their own unique personality, they all each have their own unique style & appearance as well. But those individuals that are into fitness and/or fashion are really into those things & if they are, they tend to flaunt it. They definitely want people to notice that they've put the work into their physiques & their money into their wardrobes. Some can be very competitive about it. Probably even more so than their straight counterparts.

I suspect part of it is probably down to cultural expectations, in places like the US/UK I would say straight male sexuality is very focused on desiring others rather than being desired but you look elsewhere like say Italy and thats not an automatic situation. That probably feeds down even into a general feeling of whether someones values looking attractive/stylish even in non sexual situations.
