Because it ads protection against cuts and offers a little padding. I'm surprised more ufc fighters don't grow beards

Beards are allowed in boxing, just not past a certain length. Ever seen a John Ruiz fight?

It is allowed in boxing it's the same as in MMA they bear mustn't be too big and a fighter can file a complaint to the commision if he thinks his opponent's beard is too big

Cause MMA is a sport for real men, and beards are manly as fuck.

Individuality

Kimbos had a bunch of boxing matches.

The most common areas for cuts will not be protected by a beard, unless a fighter is freaked out by the sight of his own blood it's not going to make that much of a difference.

err, Roy Nelson? Remember Cormier filed a complaint and no dice? c'mon son.

I remember reading one of Kimbo's former opponents talking about how the athletic commission made him sign an agreement that it was ok for him to keep his beard, otherwise he would have had to shave. So it's not just universally accepted.

I wouldn't be surprised if eventually MMA bans beards as well. But there are a TON of rules and regulations in boxing that have been established over the years.

I’m an amateur fighter and have been growing my beard for a few months. Is any beard length allowed in amateur mma?
