Who would you want Izzy to face next?

See title.

I want to see the Khamzat fight next.

Strickland - especially for the PC Helen Yee interview./s

I would say Alex but he seems to want to fight Hill so I'll go with Khamzat. Great challenge for Izzy the others are just too easy and would be a waste of time imo.
Yeah I want to see him fight Alex again but after watching Alex's cut to 185...I doubt he ever fights there again, at his age its not healthy at all. Besides I think he can win the 205 belt pretty easily and then rematch Izzy one last time at 205 where he is not as diminished in the cage.

Didn't see a poll on this, so I thought I would make one.

Feel free to discuss, of course.

Voted other. .

Too early to tell ...lots of circumstances..

Alex is probably going to 205lbs

The other contenders need to win their next fights .. maybe even two fights for some depending how they win ..

Soo for me its really gunna come down to what happens next for the contenders listed... Right now for me ... there's no clear #1 contender its up for grabs for each one listed based on what happens next...

It is refreshing with active champs <NewGina>

I'll second that!
Activity definitely trumps his weirdness.

Not really crazy about any of the options.

Pereira- Not big on doing these trilogies back to back to back, let them both fight somebody else then match up after if they win.

Du Plessis- Maybe the most deserving but I don’t see him having anything for Adesanya.

Khamzat- Needs a top win at 185 first.

Whittaker- Not super interested in a third fight, he needs to do a lot more to get a third shot.

Strickland- Meh, don’t see him having much for Adesanya and he’s lost 2 of his last 3.

Blachowicz- Doubt he can even make 185 and if he can, definitely shouldn’t walk right into a title fight.

Blachowicz did handle Izzy with relative ease.
And considering that Du Plessis (who's definitely not ready) really is the only fighter in the top ten who hasn't already challenged Izzy for the belt or coming off of a loss, I think that Blachowicz would be the best fight to make.

Keep the South African as a backup in case Jan doesn't make weight (I know, you don't need to say it.)

I'm thinking DDP since he probably has the best resume among MW's that has not yet faced Izzy or lost recently, though I don't like his chances. I'd like to see Khamzat fight some high level middleweights before being granted a shot.

If it's an actual MW (and not Jan) then I agree 100%
I think that he gets murked a la Costa; but either way.

Dricus, but he has to beat Strickland first, then title shot.

After that, he can have the winner of Khamzat/Costa.

Khamzat

Please sir, can you fight :D

It’s a great fight to make. These guys need big names no more Whitaker shit

Khamzat doesn’t deserve it , but it sure would be fun

If the Khamzat vs Costa fight does actually happen, that could be a #1 contender fight. If not, I'd rather see someone new get the shot. I like Whittaker and Alex, but they've already fought Izzy twice each (in UFC) and I think it's time to move on

Depends. I honestly think the matchmakers are dropping the ball. It should be Whittaker vs. Khamzat and Paulo Costa vs. Dickuus Du Pussies.

Depending on how those fights go, you have a clear championship challenger.

If Khamzat wins, it's him no doubt. But if Whittaker wins and DDP wins, then give it to DDP.

If Whittaker and Costa win, then there is no denying Whittaker. He'll have beaten the biggest hype train in the game right now and they'll be no one else.
<seedat>
100% agreed. I think Khamzat vs Whittaker is the fight to make, but Costa seems to have accidentally admitted he's fighting Khamzat next. That's not a bad fight and it's a great test for both guys, but I like your matchups better.

I'm a fan of Khamzat but I don't think he should jump the line at MW, and if he can't reliably make 170, give him a tough fight at MW and see what happens. I think Khamzat steamrolls Costa, personally.

Any of those other than Strickland. And obviously jan as he’d have to chop off a limb to make the weight.
i don’t think he should fight poatan again next but definitely in a couple of fights if they’re both still winning

Not every 1-1 series needs an immediate trilogy, especially considering alex only had 3 ufc fights before getting his shot at the belt in the first place.
Agreed but this one is clearly an intriguing match up given a) the history and b) the fact that neither man is obviously the superior fighter.

I personally don't think the kickboxing fights should have any more bearing on the mma fights than they already have had. They've already allowed alex to get fast tracked to a title shot. Alex and izzy fought twice in MMA and alex got saved by the bell in the first fight, lost the majority of rounds, then pulled out a spectacular finish in round five. In the rematch alex lost round one, then got knocked into the other world in round 2.

He can beat a contender now and then earn the third fight. I think the kickboxing bouts are clouding peoples judgement here because if this sequence of events happened with other mma fighters, people wouldn't be so up in arms about the demand for an immediate trilogy.
