Who will beat Chimaev at MW?

I'm huge Chimmy nuthugger but this fight didn't prove he's gonna handle anyone.

It proved he easily handles DDP.

But in the brief moments we saw on the feet Chimmy doesn't look amazing. All it takes is a guy with better TDD like Imavov or someone that will at least force Khamzat to work harder for TDs and even stop a few.

Then he's going to get stuck on the feet much more and that could be the end for Chimmy.
I agree, I think someone like Fluffy will push him to the limit

I like Cannonier and imo he could of and should have won that fight, there was a moment in the second round I think where he had MVP against the cage and he did an inside trip and took him down briefly that also took less energy than trying to muscle him down, the point is that if he went into that fight solely looking for the td he could have won he went about this fight wrong as he doesn't have the timing nor speed to deal with MVP.

Perhaps, but MVP made him look like everyone that MVP fights. But I think rematches against MVP would be beneficial for guys he's fought like Jared, shara or Holland.

So far the only thing we've seen really challenge him is a guy with world champion level jiu jitsu, combined with great hands and mma wrestling of his own. I don't really count the usman fight too much, as it was clear most of usmans success came from khamzat shredding his own hand ligaments. But gilberts insanely dangerous guard has been the only thing to stop khamzat from using his overpowering wrestling. Which brought it to a striking match that burns was able to compete with him in. Problem is i don't know if anyone fits that mold at MW. Maybe hernandez? But I don't know if his guard game is dangerous enough like Burns was to scare off chimaev. If it is i could definitely see Hernandez tiring chimaev out on the feet. But if Khamzat can wrestle and neutralize, i don't think fluffy has a chance. Du Ridder might have the best ground game going, but problem with him is I don't know if his striking is good enough to really threaten and tire khamzat out. But really those are the 2 most intriguing names to me at the moment. As it needs to be a guy who isn't just a sitting duck once taken down.

Caio might have the grappling chops to hang in there. He’s a big strong dude too. I wouldn’t bet on it though
Fluffy and RDR would be interesting too.

Fluffy has that non sense cardio and RDR is very big and good on the ground.

I think it is far from over for Khamzat at MW. I do think he handles Imavov, Strickland and Izzy with ease.

Someone who has good grappling defense and will make him work while also having great stand up. Maybe Luffy and Imanov have a chance. Caio and RDR have no chance imo

Himself.
Keep fighting like how he did last night and fans will turn quick. No one wants to watch that shit, no matter how dominant.

Nobody at 185 would be able to do anything against Chimaev with the performance he put on last night.

this is the truth. way too much wacky overreaction around here, as usual. threads made 24 hrs after a big fight can basically be disregarded, common sense doesn't return until at least that long.

Caio, Fluffy, and RDR are all very intriguing matchups because they are all high level grapplers. Imavov would stand zero chance.

Double One champion RDR drew Andre Galvao in bjj so he's got a good shot. He also trained with Chimaev and felt his strength.

I think physically Khamzat might be too much for Fluffy. Seems like Khamzats cardio was solid last night but DDP didn't make him work enough

I don't fully agree that MVP clowns everyone he's fought because 5'9 Storley wrestlefucked him and Lima KO'd badly.

reiner can get it done. kamzhat doesn't want none of that ground game, just like he didn't want any with gilbert burns. i can see reiner being effective off his back, enough to where kamzaht won't engage. then reiner is landing dangerous knees at will. either to body or lower at takedown attempts.

sean strickland, seemed to indicate he knows the plan against this wrestling having trained extensively with dagestanis.

people want to say imavov, but let's be real.

also unironically, i think bo would be competitive styles wise. i'd say he'd be able to defend kamzahts takedowns attempts, at least make him work super hard for it. then it turns into a wrestler vs wrestler boxing match.

Absolutely nobody has anything other than a punchers chance and anyone believing that they do is lying to themselves

In terms of in the entire ufc, I think only aspinall and ankalaev beat him

Yeah exactly, the last round kinda showed that

Even with DDP being that gassed he landed in a couple of dominant positions and landed a nice one two

If he had decent enough wrestling to make Khamzat work that could’ve started to happen in the second or third round which is what people who picked DDP saw…

He’s absolutely incredible, but he’s beatable
