For me it's between Candy and Murray. I think Jackie Chan is the most overlooked and underrated same with Tom Hanks who left the comedy genre when the 80s ended.

In all honesty it's Bill.Cosby an it isn't close. Cosby Show owned the 80s and was number 1 show from 85 to 90. Cosby also easily most recognized comedy star in 80s. ............. but who can vote for that piece of shit.

Rodney Dangerfield or Leslie Nielsen then maybe John Candy. Richard Pryor was past his prime but still loved that guy and watch Bustin Loose still every once in a while. Love Jackie Chan but that's more for the moves. Steve Martin can suck it. Almost all his feature films are dogshit. The only time I can handle him is with a solid co star ala Train, Planes... and Three Amigos.

Man the 1980s was a great decade for comedy movies. I'd say most of my favorite comedy movies are from this era.
