Who Was Better Prime vs Prime...

Sometimes it doesn't matter who won the fight. Nobody would say Weidman was better than Anderson. I think Shields had a better prime/career and he was also fighting bigger guys. When you look up "lay and pray," in the dictionary, you see Fitch and that's not a good thing to be remembered for. Wins over Hendo, Condit, Lawler, Daley and Maia make his career absolutely legendary and when you add in that he gave GSP all he could handle, it makes his resume comparable to the very best.

Shields is a clear top contender to be the best ww to have never won the UFC belt.

That's not really a fair comparison though, Jon 49-46'd Jake across the board. It wasn't really close

Weidman beat Anderson. Twice. Which doesn't say anything about their prime. Resume wise Shields is the clear winner. Prime VS Prime I believe Shields would win. But yes, I agree. They fought. Shields didn't do well in that fight. And while they were both past their prime, since they weren't in their prime, that's not really a fair comparison, either.

I think Fitch may have been "better" at his peak, but Sheilds has the better resumé and that's ultimately what matters most.

Shields had the better career, and it's really not close.

The guy beat Hendo, Woodley, Maia, Lawler, Condit, Okami, Daley, Sakurai, and Kampmann, all when those wins actually meant something.

Fitch was better in the UFC. Shields was better in Strikeforce and other orgs like Rumble on the Rock before that
