Someone in his corner is telling him to throw an elbow. With 1.52 on the clock remaining you can see a guy in his team (very close to where Eddie is fighting) motioning a 12-6 elbow and repeatedly yelling "ELBOW". A second later, that's exactly what Eddie does.

In the heat of the moment Eddie obeyed his coaches instruction without too much thought.

Obviously he didn't know it was illegal, but still.... could have cost him the fight.
